I watched Europa League today, the first games started at 10:45 a,m. here, so I did watch some of those. But of course the game that interested me was Liverpool vs Toulouse. So I was ready for it at 12:45. It started out just as I thought it would, a dominant Liverpool, with several chances before Diogo Jota scored the first goalon the 9th minute, a nice although I think an easy goal because of a soft defense. But then Toulouse surprised me, with Liverpool intent on scoring a second goal they were able to set up a smooth counterattack and they scored the draw, Kelleher could do nothing about this.
This got me kind of worried as I saw several changes Klopp made to the line up and I didn't know how they wouyld respond to this setback. But before the first half was over, Liverpool was ahead by two goals, courtesy of Endo and Nunez. The second half was again dominated by Liverpool but it was not so easy to score a goal, Gravenberch finally scored a goal after the ball rebounded from the post from a Nunez shot, and Salah who came on late in the game scored the fifth goal nearly at the ending whistle.
I think it was a great Liverpool win, Toulouse was only dangerous for a few minutes, after that display Liverpool took control and I saw no way of them not winning the game. Liverpool had a 63% possession and had the most chances and overall were the better team today.
Now Liverpool has 9 points, Toulouse and Union St. Guilloise have 4 each. So mathematically Liverpool are through just winning one more match. Actually I think a draw would see them through, if the game between the two followers does not end in a draw. Liverpool still play LASK at Anfield, they should secure their qualification to the next round in this game. In reality I think Liverpool will not lose to any of these three teams, so I think Liverpool qualifies on the 9th of November against Toulouse.
