Manchester City 6-3 Manchester United

There were a lot of games today and a lot of them were televised here, unfortunately the Manchester City-Manchester United was not. This is one game I surely would have liked to watch. Manchester United fans had great expectations for this game, City is a formidable adversary but United had been having quite a good run and I am certain the fans were looking forward to at least a good performance by the team today.

Things were not going to work out that way, and in fact there was an exodus off United fans at half time when they were down 4-0. As I said I did not get to watch the game, but according to commentaries I have read, the 6-3 score is highly flattering for United, I even read one that said City deserved a 10-0 win. But that is pure opinion the fact is the game finished 6-3, which shows me a couple of things about City. They are a nearly unstoppable goal scoring machine with a forward slant to everything they do, I mean you have De Bruyne, Gundogan and Silva feeding Foden and Halland and a watcher can only expect goals. On the other hand they have a defense that is not quite as solid as it should be.

Right now, especially today, things were OK, the attack was spot on and they could afford some shoddy defense, but what happens when they come upon a team whose sole tactic is to nullify the City attack? Remember football is an afternoon thing and City's attack is likely to have more than one bad day this season, so a team that holds them to zero is very liable to score a winning goal against City's vulnerable defense. I know this sounds crazy, but I really think Guardiola has to work hard with his defense that is his Achilles heel.

In any case what is certain is that whomever City plays you are certain to see attacking football, and if Halland and Foden are good on that day you are sure to see more than a couple of goals. I am a Liverpool fan, but I see no problem in admitting that, at the moment there is no team in Europe, as good as City.
