It keeps getting increasingly obvious why Manchester United need to allow Cristiano Ronaldo to leave. I am not saying he is the problem, to me he is not a problem even though I have problem with his attitude in the summer but it's more about long term rather than short fix. Letting him go would serve two purpose for Manchester United; they can let him fulfil his dream of Champions League football while United would have the time to build and shape the team the way they wanted.

It was a bold move to leave him on the bench against Liverpool and I'm not saying this about Ronaldo because we have had a couple of wins. I've always maintained this stance that they need to let him go. We should be looking ahead and since he has a personal goal to achieve, it makes it easier rather than to freeze him out to thrash his ego.

The game against Southampton further strengthened my resolve. Yes, Manchester United still plays without that conviction but I saw a renewed attitude to make things right. Manchester United didn't play spectacular against Southampton but they did enough to get the 3 points thanks to some wonderful defending and efforts also from David De Gea.

Ronaldo had two to three chances to do something in the game against Southampton when he came on but he was unable to. It wasn't because he lacked the effort or the determination but simply because he doesn't have the legs anymore. He was unable to beat with pace anymore, he was unable to do a lot of things we have known him for. It's easier to let him go to where he feels the services would be better so he can focus on finishing the ball rather than where we would expect him to be running after the ball. This is the best solution that would favour him and also the club.

Knowing how he always want to be on top of his game, how he wants to always have one over Messi or consistently stay ahead of the records, keeping him on the bench isn't fitting for a player of his reputation. We all know he has ego and he doesn't like being belittled but not letting him go while he still struggle this bad sometimes doesn't help both parties.

It was painful to see him struggle that bad with pace and vision but still, it can't undo what he has done for Manchester United or even football in general.

I know we would still need him at some point in the season and with the new found shape of pressing and fluid attack that we want, I don't see him fitting into that so why are we keeping him in the club only to have him on the bench? His wish should be granted so both parties can win this. It has dragged for too long and the window would soon come to a shutdown.

For the sake of his personality and for the sake of the club, it's better to let him go. I know he can be influential with the team and the coach is keeping him around for his influence, ability and as a safe bet but it's not suited for him and knowing Ronaldo, he will still throw tantrums. Let him go and let's work with what we have. We need to know that we are no longer at that big team stage. Let the rebuilding start and let's go through it however we can.

Cheers.

I know they’ve said that they want him to stay but does anybody actually want him? I’ve read about a lot of clubs being approached and saying that they don’t want him but none that have said they do want him.

That's true because a lot of them are looking at his age and resale value which makes it hard for them to afford him. I heard he had agreement with Sporting. Let's hope they can take him before the window closes.

There's been a bit of talk about Sporting for a while. I think that it would be a fitting end to his career if he decides to return there and it's the move I'd like to see.

I agree with you. It would be a fitting end. He's 37 already. It would be nice.

I've always been saying this. Let this guy leave. It's a win win situation as you have said. We can't match the ambition he has for now. Let him go while we focus on rebuilding.

Yes Manchester United need to focus on rebuilding.
