Hello, fellow football lovers, I come your way again with another football post. Currently, the champions league has proven to be very competitive and this is why we call it the world stage. It’s filled with chills, disappointment, joy, tears, and a whole lot.
After an exciting champions league match between Manchester City and Real Madrid, most football fans could not wait to watch the second semi-final between Liverpool and Villarreal. Villarreal surprised the football world when he knocked out German giants, Bayern Munich out of the champions league. But this time around, they were in to face a side that has had a very good season. I mean you all will bear me witness that Liverpool has been on a top-level this season.
Before the match, it was a no-brainer that Liverpool was going to outclass them and it was so.
Line up for both teams.
First half
In the first, Liverpool possessed the game as expected. Liverpool kicked off and the ball was set rolling. After a series of attacks to no avail, Liverpool was still pressing.
In the 31st minute, Luis Dias (Liverpool) tried the keeper with a shot but the keeper pulled a save to keep the scores level.
A few minutes later in the 34th minute, Sallah had a chance only for the ball to be blocked by a defender. It was a corner kick.
In the 42nd minute, Thiago (Liverpool) unleashed a shot only to be stopped by the crossbar. Liverpool was trying but it just wasn't happening for them.
After a two-minute added time, the referee brought the first half to an end. The results after the first half were 0:0. What was going to happen in the second half? Liverpool had fingers crossed because they were looking for a win and with the way Villarreal we're playing, I am sure a draw would have been like a win to them.
Stats after the first half.
Second half
The second half was on the way after the usual break. As usual, Liverpool possessed most of the ball.
In the 53rd minute, after Villareal had held Liverpool for a long time, they ended up scoring an own goal. The deadlock had been broken by a Villareal player but it was against them. How were they going to equalize this goal in a game they were being outclassed.
In the 55th minute, Mane beat the keeper easily and made it 2:0. Villa real was dead.
In the 64th minute, Robertson scored again but only to be ruled out for offside. Villarreal, we're left off the hook but they were still down by two goals.
In the 72nd minute, both teams made some changes to their team. I was hoping to see a change in play or a goal or two but it was a negative.
After 90 minutes and 3 minutes off added time, the match came to an end.
Stats after the second half
After the match results.
I was expecting Liverpool to outclass them and score them many goals but they only outclassed them with only two goals. You all will testify to the fact that Liverpool has been on a top level this season. I mean they are still in close competition with Manchester City for the premier league title. Villarreal was lucky not to have conceded a lot of goals from them.
On the other hand, I was expecting Villareal to show a little more claws because looking at their recent matches, they did very well.
It is my strong belief that we will see an all England final. So Liverpool and Manchester city fighting for both the premier league and the champions league. The premier league teams have shown class this season. Let's watch out for the 2nd legs.
Next is the match between Chelsea and Manchester United. Let's hope that my team, Manchester United wins the game.
Thanks for your time.
I didn't watch the match but as soon as Liverpool scored the first goal I knew more goals were on the way.
But I was surprised Villarreal allowed them to get a second so m quickly after they grabbed their first via a deflection from Robertson's cross.
That's definitely what the English fans want. But I wouldn't subscribe to it.
By far I know the tie is not over as Villarreal can still win as they did win Juventus.

I also have strong conviction that Liverpool will play against City in the UCL final. egarding the EPL title, it will take a miracle for Cuty to lose a point as things stand. I believe City is will win it by all means.
The top 3 EPL teams are truely outstanding. One can argue that they are the best currently in the UCL
