The hammers are currently on the 7th position on the league table right behind Manchester United. If they are able to carry all the three points from the game today, then they will be move to the sixth position on the league log with a game to go.
Man City are also just a game away from claiming the trophy for the 2021/22 football seasons. If they are able to win this game then they will be declared champions for the season despite two games left for Liverpool their closest competitor.
West Ham are with their full strength but it is rather unfortunate that they have their club legend Noble who will be starting the game from the bench. However one of the outstanding player for the season even in the player of the year category is on the starting line from the right side. The likes of Kelvin De-Bruyne and Maharez will be in the starting line up for the visitors. Having said that starling and Gundogan will also be starting from the bench.
The hammers did everything they could by putting pressure on the visitors and finding the back of the net twice all from their attacker who is also contesting for the player of the year Jerrod Bowen. An assist was from Fornals and Antonio respectively. The first half came to an end with the hammers leading the league leaders by 2 goals margin.
The second half started with a quick response from Manchester City with one goal from the formal west Ham player Jack Greelish. City continued to mount pressure on the hammers and they did very well to cancel some clear goal scoring opportunities.
As they continue to clear their lines, a foul committed but a west ham central midfielder gave City a free kick opportunity. Mahrez stood behind the ball and cross it into the 18 yard box but the press on the west ham defense made Vladimir to head it pass Fabianski into his own net.
This gave Man City the clear chance to kill the game with over 20 minutes to go. De few minutes after this, Man City player was fouled in the 18 yard box but the penalty was not awarded. After the review by VAR the referee change his decision to penalty in favor of the Man City.
Converting this penalty with no other goal in the game could have given Man City the league they have been fighting for. Mahrez stood behind the ball shot to the right but Fabianski was there to prevent it from scoring. The game then ended Ina 2:2 draw with no team puting the Man City's chances of winning the league in the last game.
Highlights of the game is below
He might play for West Ham once his Man City career goes nowhere but he’s not played there yet.
It would have been entertaining if West Ham had won, forcing both Man City and Liverpool to try to win the league on goal difference but it looks like it’s Man City’s title now. I can’t see them losing on Sunday.
