Sigh... I can't even put into words how bad I think Elon Musk is for... well, just everything. To me, he comes across as the little rich kid who had everything easy and managed to fail and buy his way upwards at every stage of the way. Twitter has been a bit of a poopshow since he bought it... well, more of a poop show. And as much as he loudly proclaims "freedom of speech", it is pretty clear that he live in a glass house on that front...
Anyway, he really is the epitome of the extreme capitalist who doesn't realise (or more likely, doesn't car) about the impacts of his whims and decisions for the rest of the world. When you are in a gilded tower with a silver spoon up your arse from birth, you can just live in your own reality where you are the central character and you can make up whatever background story you want.
Anyway, since the rebranding of Twitter into "X"... and reading more about his long-held desire to create the everything app... social, financial and well... everything a dream that he has long held from before the Paypal days, it might be only a matter of time when "X" is going to be able to take and make payments in crypto... after all, it would be a way of skirting regulations for the person who has no qualms about doing so.
... and given his notorious history of pumping (and likely dumping) DOGE... well, I figured that I might take an outside bet on the joke-coin.
I had dumped some of it in the last bull market and during the Elon-pumps... and so I don't have that much left. So, I figured I may as well just pick up some at the moment and start stacking it again... just on the off-chance that the man-child does something "interesting" and "funny" like making it the primary payment rail for his "X" app... it really wouldn't surprise me if he did something like that... it seems juvenile enough.
I wish he wouldn't... after all, there is a great concerted effort by traditional finance to get on the Bitcoin bandwagon... and Ethereum is really developing quite nicely, that is where all the really cutting edge development is...
... but I suspect that Elon Musk will always want to be seen as the smartest guy in the room... and that would mean that he would need to avoid the places where the smart people actually work and hang out. Hopefully his childish ways won't sink the real developments in the other chains... I suspect that it won't, after all that is where the development is taking place.. but I guess you shouldn't underestimate the financial and network effects of lots of Elon worshippers heading over to network and cryptocurrency that has been ordained by their prince.
Sadly... I think that most of his followers will just get dumped on by their "god".... ah well, I am pragmatic enough to stash a bit of a dumping hoard as well. Of course, on the off-chance that the Elon-army does make DOGE a real thing (I hope not... it isn't built to be a real alternative)... I will keep a minor moonbag, but really... DOGE isn't supposed to be the way of the future, it won't be up to the task of replacing the digital infrastructure that we are supposed to be replacing.
I really hope our way forward isn't destroyed by one stupidly capricious ego....
