카르다노 개발사 IOG, PoUW 기반 프로토콜 오펠리모스 발표

카르다노(에이다, ADA) 개발사 IOG(Input Output Global)가 국제 크립톨로지 컨퍼런스에서 작업증명(PoW) 블록체인의 에너지 낭비를 줄이기 위한 새로운 유용한 작업증명(proof of useful work, PoUW) 합의 프로토콜 오펠리모스(Ofelimos)를 소개했습니다.

오펠리모스는 블록을 채굴할 때 사용되는 연산 노력(computational effort)을 다른 현실적인 문제를 해결하는 쪽으로 사용하여 에너지 효율성 문제를 해결합니다.
예를 들면, 매우 복잡한 계산이 필요한 물류 배송 또는 이벤트 일정을 결정하는데 오펠리모스를 사용할 수 있습니다.

Today, at the leading international cryptology conference, Crypto, Input Output Global, Inc (IOG) introduces Ofelimos, a novel PoUW-based blockchain protocol whose consensus mechanism simultaneously realizes a decentralized optimization-problem solver. The consensus mechanism utilizes the work to solve computational problems of practical interest to maintain the blockchain.

Proof of useful work addresses the problem of energy efficiency by repurposing the computational effort required to maintain protocol security to solve complex real-world problems such as optimizing company logistics or event scheduling, for instance.
