Used to Play at Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium

I used to play at Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, one of the biggest stadium in Indonesia, located in Palembang, South Sumatra. I played for PAPDI SUMSEL side as left winger against PAPDI SUMUT Side. It’s quite long time, about 4 years ago.

I was studying Internal Medicine at Sriwijaya University in Palembang. Our department has a football club, named PAPDI SUMSEL. College students who are good at playing football would be recruited into the team. We were training almost every day at the afternoon.

We hired a local coach, and our lecturer, dr Zen Ahmad is our team leader. He love playing football so much though he is now about 50+ years old.

One day in 2014, we had a chance to play at Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium against PAPDI SUMUT. They are from Medan, North Sumatra.

Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium is an international stadium. Many international events has already been held there, such as Sea Games, Islamic Solidarity Games and Asian Games, and many national events as well. It has 40,000+ seats. It’s so big..

And Gelora Sriwijaya is now considered as one of stadium to hold 2021 FIFA Under-21 World Cup since Indonesia is host for that huge event.

My wife and my son were also coming to the stadium to support us to win over SUMUT.
