Matale is one of the most beautiful places in Sri Lanka.😍😍There is no doubt that anyone who has been here will be fascinated by that beauty. But did you know that there are some very ugly stories in places full of beauty like this and this is one of those stories.
Ilukkumbura in Pitawalapathana, Matale is a very small village. It has a very beautiful environment but the villagers who live there suffer from poverty. The main problem was that the school for the children in the village was inadequate and lacking in facilities. Not only did they not have the books, sport item, desks and chairs they needed sanitary facilities they need not even there. The school buildings were also betrayed and demolished. The only shrine that existed was the same. The teachers there, despite these hardships, continued to carry out their responsibilities.
Upon hearing this, my friends and I went there and inquired about all the shortcomings and wondered what to do to help them. We came back and started making arrangements for it. The first thing we did was to write down all the requirements in order. Then we made a list of things we needed to do to raise the money we needed. Glad to say many people not only helped with our work but also provided cash as well as essential items.
We went to the school with all those materials four days before World Children's Day. It is a very beautiful village. Once we got there, the whole school was repaired with the help of the school children and parents. All buildings were renovated and painted. We arranged the tables and chairs as well as the cupboards they needed. In a few days we have prepared sports equipment and essentials for their hygiene. He also completed the construction of the shrine for them to perform their religious duties.
Then came World Children's Day. That day we handed over all this to the principal and the students studying there. We will never forget the happy light we saw in their eyes at that time.
We also gave each child a gift parcel of books, bags and shoes that day. We also held a festive event that day to showcase their various talents with their participation and rejoice with them.
During these three or four days we were very happy to do so and returned to our hometown with a heart full of joy.
The support given to us by the children of those villagers is indescribable. Even today, those moments will never be forgotten.
Once I have been there to this Pitawalapathana village with my uncle. It is a very beautiful village, surrounded by Nukles mountains. Anyway, this is much appreciated work!!!
