A bullied teenager becomes a model because of her incredibly dark skin
We all know that the fashion industry can be quite a harsh environment to work in. Many girls can't handle the pressure of looking their best all the time and shy away from modeling opportunities. Despite the industry's strict beauty standards, more and more unconventionally beautiful girls are becoming the next superstars.
Khoudia Diop is a 19-year-old Senegalese model who was once bullied for her dark skin color. But now the self-proclaimed “melanin goddess” is becoming an internet star with her beautiful rich skin tone. "I've had people make fun of me a lot because of the color of my skin," Khoudia, who lives in Paris, told the Daily. “Even now sometimes people make racist comments. Growing up, I faced it as if I was facing bullying. As I grew up, I learned to love myself more every day and not focus on negative people.
Since then Khoudia, now a famous model, who started modeling at the age of 17, has won over the internet with her beautiful pictures that have earned her over 235k followers on Instagram. She encourages people to embrace their differences, writing, "If you're lucky enough to change, never change."
"My message to my sisters is that your appearance doesn't matter as long as you feel beautiful inside."
"One of my goals is to make all my dark-skinned sisters laugh at their "beauty standards""
