Are you still friends with your school friends?

I believe in hate at first sight as the friendship with my long term two best friends started in that way.

I met Diwangi in grade 3 when we sat in the same row. We didn't talk much in the class but became fellows as we shared the same spot to wait for the school van after school. We talked so much while in there untill we realized that we have lot in common. We shared grade 3,4,5,6,10,11 classes together.

Sithumi was met in grade 10 when I and Diwangi invited her to sit with us as she was looking for that and it's funny how both I and Diwangi hated her so much in first few days that we regreted for inviting her. Sithumi was so arrogant in our opinion and we still joke about it. She also waited for her school van in our spot and gradually we realized that she also has same views as us.

Three of us were together in grade 10 and 11 which is why we always recall 2012 and 2013 as the best years of our school life. It has been 5 years since we left the school but we make sure to hangout in every year in a restaurant. We have a whatsapp group in which we chat almost everyday, we mention each other in memes and we share both happiness and grievances.

So we have a 16 years and a 9 years of sucessful friendships. What I want to say is having long term friendships also need effort and understanding. We have quarreled 5 or 6 times but have become friends quickly as we know we can't miss eachother.

When it comes to friendship I beleive what really matter is quality and not quantity and everyone deserves a best friend but on the other hand it's difficult to find a good friend. So you are lucky if your best friends are still your school friends..
