Hey everyone!
Today I'm going to talk about one kind of flightless bird. Do you know about that? Did you ever heard of a flightless marine bird! Yup yup. That bird is a penguin.
There are 17 types of penguins on the planet. Penguins are developed from flying birds in excess of 40 million years prior. Penguins are in the Order Sphenisciforms. The principal penguin fossil can found in New Zealand. Every one of the penguins are found in the southern half of the globe.
The little penguin is 40cm in height and 1kg in weight. Emperor penguin has grown up to 110cm in height and 40kg in weight.
Different penguin species live in varying climates. They feed on fish, squids, and krill. They have the adaptation to swim and find their food. Actually, they are diving birds. They have an adaptation to survive in the marine environment. They consist of denser bones more than other birds. The body is rounded shape in the middle part and pointed at the end. That is called "Torpedo shape".
This shape helps to improve their swimming and diving ability. Penguins have powerful flippers like wings. Did you see they have short legs? Their back flippers (Leg) acting as a rudder during their diving and they consist of webbed feet. Overlapping densely packed feathers are help for protecting in their environment. It can impenetrable water and wind.
The penguins conserve heat by using a huddle position. All are keeping together and conserve the heat using this action.
Penguin has a white and black in the color body. Body-color matching with their environment and it helps to protect them from predators.
Emperor penguins can capture up to 80% of the heat escaping through their breath. They live in a colony. Generally, only one little penguin is recorded per year.
There are five species are classified as vulnerable and two species are near threatened. Therefore we want to protect those species for environmental equilibrium and all the species play a major role in their own ecosystem.
Penguins are one of the many species that are being threatened by climate problems. It is good to make this situation known to create a little more awareness and remember that we are not the only living beings on the planet. I congratulate you @sach96, my only recommendation would be to put sources to corroborate the veracity of this information and give more strength to your publication.
