Cricket is my favorite game. It is popular all around the world. This is a game which is played by eleven players and two teams. This game played in the center of the field is a 22-yard square pitch. Each team has the opportunity to bat while the other team has to stop while scoring. Depending on the type of match the number of batting chances per team is one or two. One such instance is called an inning. To get points the batman can hit a boundary of four or six and one runs can be scored with the other batsman. And also there are some rules for bawlers. If they wrongly ball it is called a wide ball or No ball. The batman can get one point for a wide ball. And a no-ball does not count as a ball of over. The team’s innings end when ten batsmen are bowled out. Then after a short break, the two team’s players switch again and pass the points scored by the other team to win.
History of Cricket
This game was introduced to the world by England. It is the national game of England. First, this was played by poor children in England. They originate this game by themself. In the 17th century, even adults had started to play this game. But they use a bat in addition to the ball. However, there is no written history of the origin of the Cricket game. This game is called a gentleman's game. International cricket began in 1844, and Test cricket began in 1877. There are one-day, T20 and test matches in this game. Only 12 countries have played test matches. Nowadays, T20 has become more popular.
This game can be listed by popularity to second place. The first place goes to Football. China, Japan, America, Korea countries do not play cricket at the international level.
Did you know that at the beginning of the game, there was no such thing as a boundary? Scores are awarded according to the distance of the shot. Around 1740, the batsman who started attacking a tent or a booth built to sell food to visitors began to give a certain number of points. Later, white flags were hoisted around the ground to give a definite score when the ball was hit for that distance. Currently, the boundary is at a certain distance and the boundary of the six is to hit the ball above the boundary.
There is a huge history of this game and so many rules. I think I gave you something new about this game. There are so many lovers of cricket. So I want to tell you about the legends of my cricket world.
✨ DON BRADMAN
Donald Bradman is known as the king of the cricket world. He averaged 99.94 in Test cricket, over 52 Test Matches. Many love to point out that had he scored a mere four runs in his final innings, he would have averaged a hundred. He was a gentleman Not only for cricket but also for everything.
✨ MAHELA JAYAWARDANE
He is my favorite cricketer in my country. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene as the world's most strategic captain. Mahela Jayawardene is a former right-handed batsman. He has a Test average close to 50 (49.84) and an ODI average of over 30 (32.90). He is also the first Sri Lankan to cross the 10,000 and 11,000 Test mark.
✨ IMRAN KHAN
He led his country to victory in the 1992 cricket World Cup. Imran was the captain of the Pakistan team. Today he is the 22nd prime minister of Pakistan. I think everyone can understand his cleverness leading to the world cup.
Those are my most favorite legends. And also there so many legends in the cricket world named as Chriss Gale, Sanath Jayasuriya ( Master Blaster), Brian Lara, Allan Border, Sir Vivian Richard, etc.
I hope you all can get some new things. I just wanna share my knowledge about cricket with you.
Sri Lanka was lucky to win the World cup in 1996. It is a historical incident in the cricket world. So I am so proud of my country’s cricket. We have had great cricketers in the past and also present. So let‘s see. Miracles will happen unexpectedly.😜
