Investments from both Malaysia and Korea will go toward the development of the Bopitiya leisure park that has been proposed. According to a report in The Daily News, discussions are currently taking place between the government and the company to obtain a lease on 150 acres of land for the project.
If rumours are true and Disneyland does open in Hambantota, the island nation, which is currently experiencing an economic crisis, will receive a significant boost to its tourism industry.
Earlier today, State Minister Diana Gamage was quoted as saying that she has been in conversations with officials from Disneyland about the possibility of opening a Disneyland in Sri Lanka.
