My Town In Ten Pics - Moratuwa/Colombo/21st Oct 2020

Hello Fellow steemians

Yesterday @besticofinder told me that there is an interesting contest which I have to post Ten pics of my town. Guess what, I really enjoyed this challenge, in fact I wake up little early than usual to come to the city junction to get some photographs to present to you.

Moratuwa is where I live. Situated as suburb of the Sri Lanka’s commercial city Colombo, Moratuwa is a famous town in every corner of this country. Moratuwa has 18 villages hence I might not be able cover all the important places in just one post. However, these all are closes proximity to the place I live.

Moratuwa has so many natural reservoirs around it, Bolgoda Lake, Lunawa lagoon and the sea from west side makes enough water resources to all 18 villages. Two type of endemic fish species are belongs to Bolgoda lake, they are Iravo and Diya Kalando.

Moratuwa where trees meet trees "ගහට ගහක් හමු​වන මොරටුව" That's a famous saying in Sri Lanka. This is the reason why Moratuwa is so famous I believe. Because if somebody think about furniture and carving they will definitely thinking about coming to Moratuwa too. Moratuwa is the place which has most furniture shops, saw mills & timber deports in whole Sri Lanka. For a matter of fact if you walk down the street of Moratuwa and its surrounding villages you will find a different furniture shops in every 100 miters.

Digarolla Bridge "දිගරොල්ල පාලම" is where the city border is. Usually most of Sri Lanka's city has rivers or lakes border as the division of cities. For this bridge even songs has created because this was one of the oldest bridge in Sri Lanka.

According to religion Moratuwa has a diverse composition. While Buddhism is the majority, Christians, Islam & Hindus are living in mutual cooperation for centuries. They respect religious rights of each other and living harmony.
