It's Grammy Awards night today. Many music fans has waited for this to watch the live performances, and who will win in the most prestigious awarding ceremony in music. Months prior, the nominees are being announced, and it's what many has been waiting to see who got the most nominations, and the controversial part of it, is the snubbed ones.
This year had controversies on who are snubbed. The first one is The Weeknd. It's quite surprising that he didn't get any nominations. Of course, he was nominated and won Grammys in the past. In 2020, his album "After Hours" was released, and it became a number 1 seller, and one of the top selling albums of the year. His song "Blinding Lights" was also a number 1 hit, and still high at the charts already for a year. The fact that it was also highly acclaimed critically, so it is an early favorite to receive nominations. But The Weeknd never got any nomination. That led to the singer boycotting the Grammys.
One of the snubbed for major awards is South Korean group BTS. Of course, the K-Pop group was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and that's only one nomination despite being considered one of the top (if not the top) artists of 2020. Knowing their fans are very interactive online, there's been huge disappointment towards Grammys. With a number of hit songs, and top selling albums for the year, BTS could've been nominated more than once. They're also critically successful in their records, so that could've been a ticket to get more Grammy nominations.
