Microsoft would be interested in acquiring Warner Bros Games

Microsoft is interested in acquiring Warner Bros. Games... and could keep licenses such as Batman, Harry Potter, LEGO, or Mortal Kombat.
A month ago we reported on a business deal that could turn the industry upside down. It concerns Warner Bros. Interactive, the producer of Batman, Harry Potter, LEGO, Lord of the Rings, and Mortal Kombat games. The reason? AT&T, its parent company, was interested in selling this games division.

The original information cited companies such as Take-Two, Electronic Arts or Activision Blizzard as possible interested parties. But now, according to The Information, the deal points to another company: Microsoft.

According to this media, there are two sources close to the issue that would confirm that Microsoft is interested in acquiring Warner Bros. Games. The sum of the agreement would reach 4 billion dollars, with which AT&T would seek to reduce part of its 154 billion dollar debt, following the acquisition of Time Warner, now WarnerMedia in 2018.

The consequences of this agreement, if successful, could be very important. Microsoft would add to its Xbox Game Studios development groups as relevant as Rocksteady (which is currently working on a Suicide Squad game), Warner Bros. Montreal (which is probably working on a new Batman), NetherRealm (which has just launched Mortal Kombat 11), Monolith Productions (Shadows of Mordor), Avalanche Software (which is making a new Harry Potter game) or TT Games (responsible for all LEGO games, such as the new LEGO Star Wars).

It would be, without a doubt, a tremendous coup for Microsoft, which could ensure in Xbox Series X the exclusivity, total or not, of the new Mortal Kombat games and licenses like Batman. I'll be looking forward to seeing how this whole thing turns out.
