Darkstalkers - The saga that Capcom forgot over the years

Capcom is one of the development companies that had a great impact in the 90s thanks to several video games of the Fighting genre, among them is the great Street Fighter 2, however, they would stand out in other titles. Through them they would progressively form the gameplay of many games that we know today, one of these titles was Darkstalkers

Unlike other games of this type, Darkstalkers takes us back to a story full of monsters and beings inspired by different stories, novels and films of yesteryear. It contains one of the most interesting arguments, is that the world is divided into two dimensions, one of humans and the other governed by demons

In the dimension of the demons are 3 clans that are considered the most ancient and consequently are those who govern that dimension, among them we can find the Aensland, Maximoff and finally the Dohma, having each of them a representative with an incredible power, which are Morrigan, Dimitri and Jedah respectively

The kingdom of the demons has a great variety of laws, the most prominent is that they are forbidden to interact with humans, because they have always been afraid of unknown powers and races, for that reason they tend to kill the demons which they baptized with the name of Darkstalkers

But an event would break the balance between the kingdom of demons and humans, thanks to an alien named Pyron, who with his great power kidnaps the sun. Because of this life is in danger on the planet, directly affecting all the kingdoms, it is here that the Darkstalkers who are hidden among the humans come out of the shadows to eliminate Pyron and rescue the sun

A unique and original storyline that became known in the first installment entitled Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors released in 1994 as an exclusive for CPS-2 systems, which were integrated into certain Capcom company arcade machines. In Japan it was launched under the name Vampire: The Night Warriors

The game had an excellent reception by the gamers due to multiple factors, one of them was its graphic appearance which surpassed many titles of the time, its gothic look that had the design of its characters and a soundtrack of excellent quality. Just seeing the intro of the game made you want to play it

It was in 1997 when the first version for a console was released, specifically Darkstalkers: Jedah's Damnation, but in the first PlayStation they would call it Darkstalkers 3, respecting the characters that appeared in the arcade version, however, the graphic quality was diminished a little, but its gameplay was still excellent

Between 1997 and 2005 several titles of the Darkstalkers saga were released exclusively for Japan, among them are the arcade games Vampire Savior 2 and Vampire Hunter 2, which are considered by many as updates of the previous games, Vampire Chronicle for Matching Service released in 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast and finally Vampire: Darkstalkers Collection which includes all the games released until 2000 for the PlayStation 2

The PSP also had the privilege of having one of the games of this saga, this one was called Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower, released in 2005 and it would be a port of the game released for the Sega Dreamcast

The last Darkstalkers game was released in 2013 and was called Darkstalkers Resurrection. It was a compilation of several of these games and was released exclusively for Xbox 360 (Xbox Live) and PlayStation 3 (PlayStation Network) virtual stores

Since 1997, Capcom has not bothered with a new plot for Darkstalkers, abandoning the saga and leaving it in oblivion. Many fans are excited to see this fighting game reborn in the consoles of the current generation, however, its main developer has not shown any interest, has only used these characters in crossover appearances
