The Diary Game || Better Life: Getting My First Dose of Vaccine || October 10, 2021

Good day fellow steemians of this wonderful community! Allow me to introduce myself first since I’ve been inactive for awhile now. I am April Marie Yaun, 25 years old, a public school teacher in the Philippines. It’s my second time posting here and I am very excited because this is my first time to join a contest in this community. I am really glad to share with you a day of my life when I got my first vaccine dose.

The pandemic that we are all in right now has affected not just the health sector but as well as the economic and education sectors. It brought horror to each of us, it also challenged our mental health. We were so stressed from hearing the news every day that cases of such virus are going higher, and the number of deaths has been increasing. The beginning of the pandemic was horrible, but now that we have already found vaccines to contain the spread of the virus, we become hopeful that everything will go back to normal.

Today, with hopes to help contain the spread of the virus in the community, I submitted myself for vaccination.

There are a lot of vaccination sites in our area. I registered myself last week for vaccination and just received a text yesterday informing me of my schedule today and the area where I will be getting my first vaccine dose. I was assigned to be in the Waterfront Hotel, and the vaccine available there was SINOVAC.

I arrived there at 1 pm, and there were already a lot of people lining up. I was patiently waiting for my turn.

There were few steps to follow before getting into the vaccination area.

First, you will be asked to fill out a form. After accomplishing it, I submitted the form to the persons in front and waited for my name to be called, they gave me my vaccination card that are yet to be signed by the nurses.

Then I proceeded to step 2, wherein the nurses got my body temperature then checked for my vital signs.

Afterwhich, I was directed to the next room where I was screened by the nurses. I was asked about my food allergies, my health histories, and other health-related questions before the doctor sign my consent form.

Lastly, after going through each step. I finally reached the final step where I will be injected with my first vaccine dose with SINOVAC.

After getting the vaccine, I was asked to stay for awhile. Then, I was called by one of the nurses. She began taking my body temperature and checked for my vital signs again. Thankfully, I was okay, so they allowed me to go home.

It was a long process, but it was definitely worth it. I was told to come back after 28 days to get my second dose to be fully vaccinated.

This little act of mine could help me protect my family and the people around me since I’ve been working outside and get to meet a lot of people. Also, my way of helping my community. I hope each of us won’t be afraid to get vaccinated. This is just the beginning of getting back to normal days.
