The current global warming has prompted students of the Group 111 Community Service Program (KKN) from Malikusssaleh University to take real action even on a small scale. They encourage the creation of a school environment that goes green by planting trees.

The chairman of the reforestation committee from Group 111, Muhammad Raja, said the action was carried out to create a green environment on the grounds of the Putroe Bungsu early childhood education school (PAUD) in Gampong Kuta Glumpang, Samudera District, North Aceh, Indonesia.

“We did this activity at the same time to commemorate World Tree Day with Putroe Bungsu PAUD children. Hopefully this small action can educate them to love the environment more and take part in caring for trees," said Muhammad Raja during tree planting activities, Monday (21/11/2022).

Apart from planting trees in the schoolyard, students also planted trees in several residents' yards after coordinating with the homeowners and the village head. Residents really support the student reforestation program as a real action for the presence of a green environment.

"About 10 trees. It's not much, but the hope is that it can help reforest in Kuta Glumpang," added Ahmad Alwi Hasibuan, a member of the 111 Group.

Another member of Group 111, Yohana S Manurung, hoped that the tree planting would make Gampong Kuta Glumpang greener. "We also hope that the trees we have planted in this village can grow big and last a long time," he said.

The Head of Kuta Glumpang Village, Saimi, said the tree planting action was very helpful in creating a green environment in the village. "Although there are many trees in Kuta Glumpang, at some points trees can still be planted to make our village greener," he said.

While the Group 111 field supervisor, Jufridar, MSM, said the program provided long-term benefits not only for Gampong Kuta Glumpang but also for the Earth.

"No matter how small a student's action is, it is very meaningful and must be supported, especially in the midst of global warming and climate change today," he said, who also hoped that the community would take care of the tree so that it would grow big.

Group 111 consists of 25 students consisting of the Departments of Accounting, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture Engineering, Sociology, Psychology, Economics and Development Studies, Management, Public Administration, Communication Studies, Information Systems, and Agroecotechnology.

Mendorong sekolah yang go green.

Program Go Green Mahasiswa untuk Mengantisipasi Pemanasan Global

“Jumlah sekitar 10 batang pohon.
