Being a mother is learning about strengths you didn't know you had, and dealing with fears you didn't know existed.-Linda Wooten

How to start such a painful scene. Usually I begin with cheerful greetings but this time is different. I wanted to share this post so that many can share help and together we can do something to make this family's life better.

In Olango Island I met the family of Ruellan, he is a 19-year-old boy. Just like any teenager who dreams of a comfortable life. A teenager who enjoys life with his peers, play, run and go to school. But life wasn't so good for Ruellan.

Rosalia like any woman has been anticipating for her first child. But when she gave birth the baby was announced dead. A mothers plea was to bring the baby's life back but when they are about to give up and accept the little boys destiny, he moved and cried. He was alive and he was destined to live. Ruellan was born normal just like any baby. But at time he was irritable, he cried a lot and often gets sick. Twelve days after, the baby was again sick, he was brought to the hospital and was discovered that he had Meningitis, Meningitis is an inflammation of the fluid and membranes (meninges) surrounding your brain and spinal cord.

The baby still survived but he can no longer use his arms, feet and has no ability to control his body.

Rosalia a balot vendor together with her husband a construction worker raised their child. They try to get by with all the expenses. Ruellan eldest of the two children who is supposed to be helping his mom and dad has been spending all his life in the four corners of their house.

By day Rosalia's husband work in the construction, by night Rosalia sells balot in the island. Their income usually isn't enough. Ruellan needs milk and diapers like an infant, and it usually costs much so the couple try to make ends meet.

I witnessed how hard their life was. With almost nothing they try to survive. As we talked to Rosalia she was a bit teary eyed, looking at the groceries we brought for her family. I know it was not much but she felt it was a great blessing. I couldn't bear to talk further, as a mother it breaks my heart. I remember those times when my kids get sick and I would always pray to take away their pain or if I could just have the pain they are in. I could just imagine how Rosalia feels looking at her sick son.

I plan to go back and hopefully bring something for the family, for those who also want to help Ruellan needs milk, diaper and food. It would be so nice if we can share a little for this family. I want to use my earnings for this post to Ruellan's family. Half of the earning will be used to buy grocery and half will be cash. I hope you can support and help this family.

Rosalia is knocking to your heart and hoping you can spare a little for her family. Hoping we can make the agony of a mother lighter.
