Thousands of Bireuen Residents Crowded the Hall Yard, Watching Together the 2023 U-23 Asian Cup.

The Bireuen Regency Government, Aceh Province, Indonesia, again held a joint viewing of the match for third place in the U-23 Asian Cup between the Indonesian National Team versus Iraq, Thursday, 02/05/2024.

Thousands of Bireuen residents crowded into the courtyard of the Bireuen Regent's Hall to watch the national team compete. The enthusiasm of the people watching the match between Indonesia vs Iraq in the U-23 Asian Cup event in the courtyard of the Bireuen Regent's Hall was extraordinary.

The community seemed very enthusiastic, even before the match started they had already filled the courtyard of the historic building. The large number of people watching this crucial match resulted in the road in front of the Bireuen Regent's Meuligoe being congested with vehicles, a number of officers from the Police and Transportation Services were seen busy directing traffic to ease the congestion.

This joint viewing event is an activity held for the second time by the Bireuen Regency Government, previously the Bireuen Regency Government also held a joint viewing of the Indonesia vs Uzbekistan semifinal match, Monday evening (29/4/2024).

The Acting Regent of Bireuen said at the event that he was very happy to see the excitement of the people of Bireuen watching the Indonesian national team play. It seems that their sense of nationalism is very high in supporting the Indonesian National Team.

He added that the group viewing activity was held as a form of support and encouragement for the Indonesian U-23 National Team which is currently struggling in this prestigious Asian football event.

Also present at the viewing event were the Acting Regent, Kajari Bireuen, several DPRK members, the Chairman of the Bireuen Golkar Party DPD, and a number of Service Heads and District Heads. The people who attended the match consisted of various ages, from children, teenagers, adults and the elderly.

As is known, the match for third place in the U-23 Asian Cup between Indonesia versus Iraq was won by the Iraqi National Team with a score of 1-2.

In the match at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Thursday (2/5/2024) evening WIB, Indonesia took the lead through Ivar Jenner's goal in the 19th minute before Zaid Tahseen equalized. After being equal for 90 minutes, the match continued into 2 x 15 minute extra time. Iraq scored the winning goal through Ali Jasim Elaibi while securing a ticket to the 2024 Olympics through third place.
