San Juan, or St John the Baptist, is the patron Saint of Arroyo de la Miel. Every year, Arroyo de la Miel hosts a week-long traditional festivities to honour him.
The week-long San Juan Festival begins on the 24th of June. It is one of the biggest local celebrations, and one of many festivals in Benalmadena. There will be concerts, dances and a feria (fair).
The San Juan celebration began a week earlier with a procession from the San Juan Chapel in Arroyo de la Miel and ended at the fairground, where there were performances, food and drinks. This was last Sunday.
In the park adjacent to the fairground, people were also celebrating. There were many groups of picnickers.
The fair begins today. There will be rides for the children, tents for performances and makeshift stalls for food and drinks.
