In January 1950 President Soekarno and First Lady Fatmawati visited India in order to fulfill President Rajendra Prasad's invitation to attend the celebration of India's independence day. At that time, Indonesia had just freed from the Dutch military aggression which finally decided to leave Indonesia at the end of 1949. This state visit to India was just less than a month after the Dutch recognized Indonesia's sovereignty.

After attended Rajendra Prasad's invitation, President Soekarno was invited by Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to his house. On the way while visiting the Taj Mahal, President Soekarno's car tire went flat, while waiting for the tire to be replaced, President Soekarno borrowed a bicycle from a local resident and rode it with First Lady Fatmawati.

Here are some photos of President Soekarno rode a bicycle in India, 1950.
