Hey all!
What a whirlwind the last couple of weeks have been! How are you all holding up? We have been practicing self-isolation for the last week and a half, and here on the west coast of Canada, we're dealing with all sorts of closures, which is making for a lot of chaos in a small space. We tend to be home-bodies anyway, so isolating isn't as huge of an ordeal for my family as it seems to be for a lot of others, but it's difficult to be productive with tasks that require a lot of concentration when there are little people tugging at my sleeves every 5 minutes or so. We are starting finding a rhythm, though, and I'm going to try my best to check in as much as possible.
I have been finding moments here and there to work on an art project I've got going with my father-in-law, and once that's ready I'll be sure to share it with you guys.
For today, I thought I'd dig through the stack of things I've neglected to share, and found a couple of comic character drawings I did up for "Inktober".
I was having fun playing around with a new inking brush pen, and practicing old-school comic-book style inking, and thought these two fit the bill as perfect subjects.
I tend to be more of a Marvel fan than DC, but I've always been a Batman fan - from the 1980s comic books, to the 1990s films (which is when I first discovered a love for Tim Burton as well). I used to sit down and watch reruns of the hilarious 1960s Adam West Batman series with my dad. And in more recent years, really enjoyed the darker (and what feels more authentic to the character's backstory) take in the Dark Knight trilogy. Yes, some are done much better than others. Some I think are absolutely fantastic for all the wrong reasons... you know, those shows or movies that are just so bad that they're good?
Once I'm done my other projects, I may get back to drawing more classic comic book characters - I could see myself doing a whole Batman series. Though, if wee man has anything to say about it, I'm sure there'll be a few of the Avengers thrown into the mix too. haha
