Greetings my fellow steemians all around the world. we meet again for the 3rd week of season two of the Steemit engagement challenge. I must definitely recommend this community for always putting forth amazing contest. Last week we had a very interesting topic and this week a more interesting one. Today, I joined the rest of the steemit world to participate in the effect of Covid in our society.

COVID 19 WAS AN EPIDEMIC. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ABOUT IT? EXPLAIN IN YOUR OWN WORDS

Corona Virus Disease abbreviated as COVID 19 because of the year in which it started has by far been the deadliest disease in the past decade comparing only to Ebola that plague mostly the African territory back in 2014. Covid 19 originated from Wuhan china and before we could know it, it was all over the world. It is a respiratory disease that attacks the most the respiratory system. They have been many theories as to the cause of the virus but the known fact is that it was a deadly disease that is contagious and has done away with so many lives.

One thing that is sure about the virus is that like all other pandemic diseases, the world was not prepared for it and so was my country Cameroon. We in Africa were just so lucky that it didn’t spread as it did in other countries. America recorded the deadest. It can be transmitted from one person to the other when we come in contact with others, or touching surfaces that had been contaminated by the virus etc.

WHAT DIFFICULTIES DID YOU PERSONALLY ENCOUNTER DURING COVID-19?

1. LOST MY JOB.
   The first thing that happen was that I lost my job. I used to work for Plan international Cameroon back then as a junior internal controller. Our main duty was to travel the regions and make sure everything was going according to norms. But because COVID 19, project implementation was slow and travel bans. So I was laid off from work.

2. I WAS ISOLATED FROM MY FAMILY FOR A WHILE.
   Due to the travel banned, I was also isolated from my family because I used to work in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon where the head office was situated. I could not travel to go see me family.

3. EXPLOITATION FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT MEN.
   The government of my country instituted curfew, facemask and lock downs throughout the whole nation to reduce the spread of the disease. This was a good initiative by the military men used this especially in Bamenda where there is the ongoing Anglophone crisis to molest and exploit us. I lost about 20,000FCFA due to this.

HOW STEEMIT BLOCKCHAIN HELPED YOU DURING COVID 19.

I had heard about steemit before in the year 2018 that was December when I opened my first account but I wasn’t active because I didn’t under it. I barely understood it sometimes last year and I did register, so in the heart of the crisis, I can say I wasn’t really into Steemit when the Covid 19 crisis was intense.

HOW MANY PEOPLE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD WAS AFFECTED BY COVID 19 DISEASE AND WHAT WAS THE CONDITION?

I did mention earlier that we are very fortunate in Africa that the corona virus didn’t really hit us as hard as other continents. In my family we did not incur any COVID related cases. Thank God for that. I hardly know any person that died from the disease.

HOW DID STEEMIT KEEP BUSY OR RELY ON INFORMATION WHEN YOU WERE HOME LOCKED DURING COVID 19.

As I already e mentioned, I wasn’t active in steemit by the time there was lock down so I didn’t benefit from the information shared during that time. However, I have benefitted tremendously from information on Covid 19 ever since I joined steemit which is one year back.

DID YOU SELL STEEMIT EARNINGS DURING COVID 19 TO REDUCE OR ELIMINATE THE PROBLEMS YOU FACE IN YOUR DAILY LIFE?

YES. I did sell my earnings all the time so as to help me reduce my financial issue. As I said, due to the COVID 19, I lost my job and surviving was becoming very difficult for me. I had to sell some of my earnings weekly or monthly to be able to cope with the effects of losing my job.

DID STEEMIT HELP OTHER PEOPLE BESIDE YOU IN YOUR COUNRTY, CITY DURING THE COVID 19 EPIDEMIC.

Steemit has been of great help to my country men during the Covid 19 period. The person that recruited me in steemit was a country representative. He told about how steemit had helped him very much in his day to day life. I can say they are very few of them that really benefited from steemit because the number of Cameroonians were not as much as this.

YOU INFORMED PEOPLE ABOUT STEEMIT DURING COVID 19 SO THAT THEY TOO CAN OUT OF TROUBLE BY JOINING STEEMIT.

Since I wasn’t part of steemit by then I did not share with anybody by ever since I joined steemit, I have done a lot of work sharing and bringing people to join the platform. I can say I have brought over 25 persons and some of them are very active. I must say this is really helping my friends.

WHAT DIFFICULTIES, MAJOR ISSUES DID YOU FACE DURING COVID 19’S TERRIBLE DISEASE AND HOW DID STEEMOT IMPROVE, SUPPORT AND HELP YOUR LIFE DURING THE COVID 19 AND OTHER PEOPLE AROUND YOUR CITY OR COUNTRY (Write own experience).

1. FINANCIALLY PROBLEM. The biggest wahala was financially after losing my job at Plan Cameroon, I could barely have sustained myself. It was the only means of income for me. Well all thanks to steemit, ever since I started writing an earning this problem has been reduced.

2. IDLENESS. Another major problem I faced was idleness. During the Covid period and after things was pretty slow. No work so I was mostly home doing nothing and being idle. But with steemit and participating in contest and the crypto academy, I wasn’t idle and kept myself very busy up to date.

CONCLUSION.

The Covid 19 period was the worst period in my life. Post Covid 19 things were going on very fine and normally and we enjoyed a normal life. Then it just became difficult, people dying and so on. I do pray for the souls of those who passed on and pray God be their consoler. I also want to shout a big thank you to the entire steemit team and the steemit platform. This had been the greatest help to a lot of people myself inclusive through this corona period. I pray things get better in the world because some people are still dying from the disease.
