The Afro-pop genre of music is native to Africa and fuses the sounds from the western world with its own nativity to create a maestro blend it started in the 90s but was not widely spread but with the inception of western influence on Africa's culture the 21st century has seen a leapfrog in this music type. Afro-pop is like a friend who accommodates his peeps for a holiday, there is a mixture of African sounds like fuji, highlife, juju, makossa, and kizomba with other foreign sounds like soul, jazz, hip-hop, reggae, salsa, and of late trap to create a different feel.

The afro-pop sound is what Nigeria and Africa as a whole use to unite with the rest of the world, we've got trailblazers as artists in that music racking international award like the B.E.T and lately Burna Boy of Nigeria winning the best album in the world in the Grammy with largely based Afro-based content. Afro-pop is a lure to our music and a way of also keeping our culture around in the face of rapid civilization, creativity is the backbone of this music.

Afro-pop is danceable music with different dance styles always gracing the TV. We have had trending dances like galala, swo, alanta, azonto, shoki, and lately zanku. This is the music in my culture in my country.
