Friends, today I am here to participate in the Steemit Engagement Contest Season 2 and Week 1. This publication is actually for the Urdu Community and the topic of discussion for this contest is Comparison Between Steemit and Other Social Media Platforms. So, let's start the discussion without any waste of time.

Social Media Platforms Mostly Used By Me

As we all know that this is the era of technology and it is growing day by day. New and more new innovations are coming into view on a daily basis and we met various social media platforms to be connected with the whole world and especially with the surroundings. Social media platforms are the source of a connection between the individual and the happenings in daily life around the world.

There is a list of social media platforms that I use on daily basis and I take different advantages of various platforms. By screening them, I found some most important social media platforms that I use on daily basis and without those platforms, I think it will be very difficult for me to survive. Some most important social media platforms that I use the most are listed below, along with their importance in my life.

WhatsApp

The first and the most important social media platform that I use on daily basis is WhatsApp. WhatsApp is an end-to-end encrypted messaging application that is used all around the world for messaging (text/voice notes), video calls, audio calls, group chatting, and many more. WhatsApp is the most basic application that everyone uses in our area to communicate with each other and to contact the far-offs that are not present between them.

So, I use WhatsApp for various purposes. First of all, I use it to communicate with my friends and family members as well. Secondly, I use WhatsApp to approach the educational news that is mostly shared in the WhatsApp groups of our college. I also use it for observing the news about cryptocurrencies that are mostly shared by my friends in a crypto-signaling group. Also, I use it for video calling my cousins that are present abroad for study purposes.

Discord

Another social media platform that I use on daily basis is Discord. Discord is also actually a messaging application that was initially created for the gamers to gather there and make their respective servers, in order to, allow their friends and fans to approach them. Now, it is used in all fields of technology. Actually, Discord is a place where thousands of people can join a server in common and share their views about various aspects.

The most interesting feature of Discord, according to me is the channeling system. There are sub-divisions of the servers that are known as channels and each channel is particular for specific activities, as the name of the channel. I use Discord for contacting the friends that are gathered on a server. Moreover, there are many servers that are related to different communities of Steemit where I can approach new announcements and happenings.

YouTube

Another most important social media that I use in my daily routine is the Youtube application. YouTube is actually a video-sharing social media platform where video creators can publish their content for monetization. Users can publicize their content in the form of videos and in return, they can earn very good rewards. It is also a centralized platform and is most popular among all the people of the world. It can also act as a search engine where users can get video results of their searches.

I use YouTube on daily basis. I use it for watching various movies, and dramas, listening to various video songs, and many more. Especially, I use YouTube to get information about education in our country. I access various popular YouTube channels to learn the topics that I could not understand from my books. Moreover, I also use YouTube to watch the previous cricket matches that were missed by me due to various reasons.

Instagram

One of my favorite social media platforms for me is Instagram. Instagram is also a product of the Meta Platform. It is a social media application/platform where users can interact with each other and also share their daily happenings with their friends and dears. Here, people can also chat with each other with the messaging feature allowed by the platform. Moreover, we can add stories to make our memories and share our happenings.

I use Instagram most of the time my day and there are several reasons behind it. First of all, I use Instagram to contact my various friends that are not available on other social media platforms. I also use it to post my daily life routines and my events with my friends/followers. There are many meme groups that I have joined on Instagram to entertain myself during my free time. So, Instagram is a source of entertainment for me.

Steemit

The most important social media platform that I use in my daily life is the Steemit platform. Steemit is actually a decentralized social media blogging platform where the users can share their quality content and in return, they can receive upvotes from the curators that add value to their creative and quality content. Steemit platform is built on the STEEM ecosystem which is one of the most successful blockchain ecosystems of the time.

As I have discussed already that I use the Steemit platform for adding value to my quality content. I publish my quality content and I got support from the team that allow me to earn via writing. My writing skills and the blogging experience has been improved so much since I joined the Steemit platform. Moreover, the Steemit platform makes my time precious and useful as I got benefits in the form of STEEM tokens that are of golden worth to me. Thanks to the Steemit platform for providing such a beautiful and beneficial social media platform.

There are many other social media platforms that I use on at least a weekly basis. Some of them are Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Telegram, and Reddit. I excluded these platforms from the above discussion because I do not use these platforms as frequently as the above-mentioned.

Why I think Spending more time on Steemit is Beneficial For Me

There are a number of reasons that urge me to say that Spending more Time on Steemit is more Beneficial to me. Some of these reasons are discussed below.

• In Return Rewards:

I can manage to earn some awesome rewards by publishing quality content on the Steemit platform and this thing will help me to be strong financially as well as professionally. In this way, the Steemit platform provides worth my quality content. There is no substituent for the Steemit platform among the above-mentioned platforms in this regard. For example, I can never get rewards by chatting with my friends on WhatsApp and Instagram. So, the Steemit platform will help me to grow financially to meet my daily needs.

• Connection With Others:

Spending more time on the Steemit platform allows me to coordinate and connect with different people belonging to different areas of the world. I can visit their posts and learn about their lifestyles and their living matters, etc, Moreover, I could be able to grow my friendship across different countries of the world. The more the time spent on the Steemit platform, the more it will be beneficial for me to grow up my coordination skills.

• Improvement of the Blogging Skills:

No doubt, staying at the Steemit platform allows me to grow up my blogging skills. I learned so much from the Steemit platform and the most important is that my blogging experience and skills are improved on the Steemit platform. Here, the quality of my content is also improved as Plagiarism is strictly prohibited on the platform. So, my stay on the Steemit platform will help me to improve my blogging experience and this will help me to be a professional blogger and content creator.

• Protection of My Content:

Being a content creator and blogger, it is a very important thing for me that I could be able to prevent the ownership of the content that I would post on the Steemit platform. Steemit platform always encourages people to create their own creative content on the platform. So, if someone copies my content, he will be strictly discouraged by the team and hence my content will be protected from being plagiarised.

• Improve Creativity:

Another most important thing is that the Steemit platform has improved my creative thinking and creative writing. By participating in the contests that are organized on the Steemit platform, I will be able to improve my thinking capacity, and also my ability to do work is also increasing. It is a fact that by working on the Steemit platform, I am able to improve my writing skills for college exams or tests.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Steemit over Other Social Media Platforms

From the above whole discussion, It is clear that there are a number of advantages of the Steemit platform over the Other Social Media platforms. Also, there are some downsides. These merits and downsides are discussed below.

Merits of Steemit Platform

Some important advantages of the Steemit platform are discussed below.

• The most important advantage of the Steemit platform is that the Steemit platform is a decentralized social media platform where the users have full control over their funds and accounts. While on the other hand, other social media platforms are centralized. It means that the activity of the accounts can be controlled by the central authority of the platform. Moreover, the central authority is also able to ban/mute our account.

• Another advantage of the Steemit platform is that the Steemit platform makes our time very precious and useful. It protects us from the wastage of time on other social media platforms. Our spent time on the Steemit platform is really of huge worth for us as we can earn, as well as, stay connected with the world's happenings. We can share our daily happenings on the Steemit platform as well.

• Another important that is to be considered here is that the Steemit platform is much more secure and private than all other social media platforms. There are very low hacking possibilities on the Steemit platform, compared to the other platforms. This is due to the involvement of the private keys of the accounts of the Steemit platform. Moreover, the accounts are protected cryptographically on the Steemit platform and this feature is not present on the other platforms.

• The Steemit platform also protects the ownership of our creative content. There is a strict action against Plagiarism or copy-pasting of the content of other users, so our creative content is protected there. There is no such scenery on the other platforms as the users are able to direct copy-paste our content on the other platforms.

Downsides of Steemit Platform

There is nothing perfect in the universe so the same is the case with the Steemit platform. There are also some drawbacks that need improvement. These are discussed below.

• The most important demerit of the Steemit platform is the lack of any mobile/PC application. An application will surely ease the new users to understand the working on the platform as there is present in the other social media platforms.

• Another important factor that can be considered here is that there is no feature in the Steemit platform to direct messages and contact with the other users of the platform. There is a feature of encrypted messages in the wallet but this is not quite well as compared to the simple messaging feature of the other platforms.

Steemit is a decentralized blockchain social media platform that rewards its users in order to provide quality content to the platform. Users can share their happenings with the other users of the platform and by participating in the activities of the platform, the user is able to earn awesome rewards that can help them to improve themselves professionally.

There are some advantages of the Steemit platforms including the decentralization, protection of the content, improvement of the blogging skills, protection of the funds and accounts and many more. On the other side, there are also some drawbacks including the lack of mobile application and the lack of end-to-end encrypted messaging feature.
