URDU COMMUNITY CONTEST / S2W3 –STEEMIT AND COVID-19||HOW DID STEEMIT PLAY A USEFUL ROLE IN IMPROVING YOUR LIFE DURING COVID-19? BY @TENGUHATANGA

INTRODUCTION

Hello friends of the Urdu community welcome to my post. This weeks’ contest is an interesting one which everyone has been touched in one way or the other. Here is my experience with Covid-19 and Steemit.

COVID-19 WAS AN EPIDEMIC. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY ABOUT IT? EXPLAIN IN YOUR OWN WORDS.

Covid-19 I will say in this short poem:

Covid-19!!! Covid-19!!! Covid-19!!!
The stoke is a hard and unexpected one,
You who took away our joy, peace and happiness
Cries of dead filled every land and country with your prestigious visit,
Men, women and children became lost and confused,
You who took away our sources of livelihood and made unemployment rise,
You who made a great increase in hunger and starvation,
Oh Covid-19! what a visitor you are?
Never shall we be the same again!!

It was indeed an untimely visit and outbreak of this deadly disease which still leaves the heart of many pounding heavily. At the time of the outbreak many people were not informed and so it caused a lot of deaths due to negligence and ignorance. Also the source or origin of the disease was hidden and till today many are not aware of the origin as we see fingers pointing to different people with china been pointed at mostly. This is a disease which has claimed the highest number of lives in the history of creation. No other disease measure up to its records and so we all have to be careful and continue to take precautions

According to World Health Organisation, the statistics recorded are enormous with My country Cameroon having many cases of COVID-19 victims with figures being 119947 cases and 1930 Deaths. This is indeed a massive number which plaque the country causing so many losses.

WHAT DIFFICULTIES DID YOU PERSONALLY ENCOUNTER DURING COVID-19?

1. I LOST TWO JOBS

Each time I take a look at what I have lost due to the Covid-19 pandemic I feel like crying. At the time of the outbreak I was working with AIESEC Cameroon and we had won a Project with Guinness Cameroon on the theme DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE and so I was to be a regional supervisor for Yaounde and my salary per month was 310000 FRS just for the project before my normal organization salary so in total I was worth 500k a month. After working for a month the outbreak came and everything stopped. It was a hard one for me as my source of income had gone. Also working with AIESEC I had an opportunity to travel to Jordan to work still with the organinsation. With the Covid-19 and all its barriers I couldn’t and so lost the opportunity. These are the great losses I have had during this period of the pandemic which I will never forget. The moment when I had the most inflicting pocket cancer.

2. ECONOMIC INSTABILITY

With the coming of the Covid-19 disease so many things changed especially with the prices of goods and services in the country. Back in the days before the crisis a common man could afford a pot of meal to eat with his family for a day with 1000 FRS or 2000 FRS but with the rise in prices, they can barely get a meal. Before the crisis one could get the most common good garri at 3 cup for 200 FRS but now in some areas a cup is 100 or 150 FRS. Live has become difficult as country borders have been closed and so importation of goods into the country is difficult causing scarcity and hence price increase. This plays a lot in disrupting the country’s’ economic situation from good to bad.

HOW STEEMIT BLOCKCHAIN HELPED YOU DURING COVID-19?

One thing I must say is THANK YOU Covid-19 for it was during this period that I got to know and engaged in steemit. Covid-19 brought about a lot of unemployment and idleness and I was a victim too which made me felt so bad and angry. I can recall back in May 2020 when my brother @njiatanga told me about steemit but I refused to join and after two months of idleness, sleeping and gaining weight I cornered him and got registered into the platform. Since then I have been active and thankful for joining the platform.

Steemit has helped me in a way that is unimaginable and unsayable and so I remain grateful. Imagine staying at home every day with the lockdown and all the social distance measures, I was frustrated and was almost having psychological trauma from over thinking. With steemit I rather occupied my mind with positive and creative things, financial confidence gained through the eanings from steemit and also improved on my life.

HOW MANY PEOPLE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD WERE AFFECTED BY COVID-19 DISEASE AND WHAT WAS THE CONDITION?

The Covid-19 came in a way that affected so many in my country and my family was not left out. Two of my family members living in the US got the disease but fortunately they were cured and are sound now. The rest of the family were only plagued with unemployment, social and economic effects of the pandemic

HOW DID STEMAT KEEP YOU BUSY OR RELY ON INFORMATION WHEN YOU WERE HOME LOCKED DURING COVID-19?

Steemit kept me busy in so many ways like

1. MORE RESEARCH

If you want to succeed on steemit you must be knowledge soaked and it comes from doing more research online and from people. Doing many of my posts I am pushed to seek for knowledge and mostly I go to elders around me and learn these things, try them out before presenting on steemit. Others I can learn online and do it. I must say you can’t make a good post on steemit without proper infromtion. Within this period on steemit I have acquire so much and most of it about my culture and other cultures in the world.

2. CREATIVITY

Engaging on steemit entails that one needs to be creative with everything and how I want my blog to be. To make a good/quality post I need to be creative with my words and items I present on steemit. Some posts need skills in arts while others like this one needs personal experience and knowledge. This makes me think well on what to write of what to produce in terms of arts to make a post. In the past I could never come up with a write up if it is not for school purpose but today I can make a good article which can educate people in different dormains

DID YOU SELL STEEMIT EARING DURING COVID-19 TO REDUCE OR ELIMINATE THE PROBLEMS YOU FACE IN YOUR DAILY LIFE?

OH YES I have sold my steemit earnings this period to take care of my personal and family needs. The essence of earning something financially is to assist us when we have problems and so during the moments I had problems especially my school needs I sold some steem and SBDs to take care of them. Also I have powered down and used some of it to assist my family and also pay for my house rents. My earnings have greatly helped me and my family.

DID STEEMIT HELP OTHER PEOPLE BESIDES YOU IN YOUR COUNTRY, CITY DURING COVID-19 GLOBAL EPIDEMIC?

A BIG YES STEEMIT HAS HELPED OTHERS DUNRING THIS PERIOD. Steemit expansion came to play during this pandemic period looking at the record of the recruitment statistics in the various countries steemit is present. Back then when I joined I knew many people both in my country and out of the country who had just joined and are benefiting from steemit. In my country got to know people like @fombae, @saxopedia, @craxywriter and @chant. Out of my country I got to know @focusnow, @ngoenyi, @yohan, @eberechi10, @iamlynxie, @xkool24, @talktofaith, @samuel20 @cryptocheta and many others. These users have been engaging and consistent and so have benefited a lot from the platform.

YOU INFORMED PEOPLE ABOUT STEEMIT DURING COVID-19 SO THAT THEY TOO CAN GET OUT OF TROUBLE BY JOINING STEEMIT.

Yes I did spread and preach the gospel according to steemit through all the verses to people around me and got to recruit about 6 users. Some of these users are active while others are not. I can say the most active is @breeze.com and he has benefited a lot from steemit both with knowledge and steem earnings.

WHAT DIFFICULTIES, MAJOR ISSUES, DID YOU FACE DURING COVID-19'S TERRIBLE DISEASE AND HOW DID STEEMIT IMPROVE, SUPPORT AND HELP IN YOUR LIFE DURING COVID-19 AND OTHER PEOPLE AROUND YOUR CITY OR COUNTRY?

The Covid-19 came with a wave that affected me negatively that I couldn’t imagine. Steemit has really helped me a lot during this pandemic period and lifted my spirits. Some of the challenges I witnessed include;

1. LOW INCOME LEVEL

During this period I witnessed a very low income situation which happens to be one of my worst moments. Imagine someone earning hundreds of thousands suddenly reduced to not having even 50 FRS in a week, this was so devastating that I almost gave up on life. Thanks to my introduction into steemit I feel happy with a source of income. I now know without any physical job I am worth hundreds or thousands or millions. Thanks to steemit I can stand I talk in the midst of great income earners.

2. LITTLE READING AND CREATIVITY SKILLS

I can vividly remember three years ago how I hated reading especially any long text and so it hindered me from acquiring knowledge about so many things. I have been able to improve on that through steemit which has made me have patience to go through articles and comment meaningfully. It has also enable me become a more critical thinker and creative. At least now I can come out with things from my imagination and not relying on others.

3. DEPRESSION

During this pandemic period with all the social barriers/distance measures, rapid increase in price of good and services and losing my job I just felt the world had come to an end for me. This was so hard that I would isolate myself and lock myself in the room for a day or two just think about everything. This gave me brain fatigue and I went into depression which almost made me mad. Sometimes I would sit and talk alone and so it scared my family a lot. I am glad my mind was shifted from the thoughts of my loss to positive thoughts and writing by steemit.

4. NO PHYSICAL AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Staying indoors, idle and doing nothing is usually know as inviting the devil in your midst. I hated this period as my social activities were stopped. I couldn't go out to work to meet and chat with colleagues as before, I couldn't go out and have fun as usual with my friends and even take a drink or go clubbing. This greatly affected me as I wasn't the type that like staying indoors for long except I have something doing. In order to overcome this I actively participated on steemit and everyday I made at least a post and engaged in contests. This kept me busy and I alsoe created a new friendshi network for myself. This was really helpful

CONCLUSION

Steemit has really been a big support to me and improved my lifestyle, how I see and think about people and things. The pandemic has caused a lot of damage to the entire world which no one can say he/she wasn’t affected even the presidents faced the pandemic too. This is a terrible wave which many people are still trying to overcome. It has not been and easy race but thanks to steemit I and many steemians have had a better life. THANK YOU STEEMIT
