I can't explain the wave of emotion I felt when I came across this cartoon yesterday, I was just scrolling across my twitter feed then I found a tweep using Ken as a meme, then someone commented beneath it with the title and there it was, boom, Fist of the North Star. So let me give you a little background story, while I was growing up, I liked cartoons a lot, from Superman to He-man and the Masters of the universe, name it.

However for Fist of the North Star, I was rather too little to understand what they were saying but I somehow followed it and even liked it a whole lot, the way Ken fought, the way Shin killed, I enjoyed it all. I've been a fan of violent cartoons or movie type of entertainment since I was young, you'd never catch me watching Mickey Mouse or Snow white, I watched Demon City a lot and Fire and Ice.

Pardon my digress, so you know one of those shows that just etches itself to your memory and pop up in bits years and years after? That was exactly what happened here, I kept remembering bits of clips from Kens fights, I tried so hard to find it but I couldn't even remember the title or any of the cast.

Then the twitter thing happened, so I searched for it and found it and watched it then oh my goddddd, the wave of emotion was out of this place, then I got to properly listen to the conversations and got the story line. Fist of the North Star is one of the best Japanese mangas ever made, the cartoon was released in 1986 and has several parts made into it, it was during my search for it that I got to find out the many other parts -

FOTNS: The Movie (1986)
FOTNS TV Series (1984 – 1987)
FOTNS 2 TV Series (1987 – 1988) *OPTIONAL.
Fist of the Blue Sky (2006 – 2007) *OPTIONAL.
Legend of the Dark King (2008)
Legend of Raoh - Death for Love (2006)
Legend of Toki (2008)
Legend of Raoh - Fierce Fighting (2007)

Here is a trailer you can watch

Will I be watching them all? I don't know, maybe if you do and find one exceptionally interesting then you can tell me and we can watch it together, after all its Isolation season and some of us might be having plenty of free time on our hands. So indulge me, are there any childhood cartoons that made your growing up or give you this type of feeling?

It’s pretty cool to remember stuff from “small kid time” as we call it in Hawaii. But it’s super cool and interesting to be able to watch old cartoons you like as a kid, as an adult and pick up stuff you may have missed as a kid.

Enjoy 😊
