I love music. And I don't have to understand the language of the song to love it but I care about the lyrics and the 'beats'. This guy burna boy, I haven't been a great fan of his songs. But over the years , I have come to have some kind of respect for him: he is consistent with his style of music. When you listen to his songs, you will discovered that he is not blending in but sticking out among the many songs and beats that sound alike in the Nigerian music industry.
Now, he has won the Grammy!. Burna boy won the best global music album awards, for his album, "TWICE AS TALL" . In recent times, this singer, P. Diddy has dubbed the king, had been in the news for always having some form of grievances with other celebrities at shows and clubs. Some have said, he is disrespectful and others says, he is just too proud. Now, with this Grammy award, I pray burna boy won't be twice as proud and twice as disrespectful.
I am commenting on this, because it is this news of Burna boy winning the Grammy that actually brought me some form of relieve from the low ebbs of emotions that issues of life had swung me for the past one week. This news made me felt excited somewhat, after days of no excitement. I felt so happy for Burna boy, that I had to remember that I needed to be happy for myself too. So, congratulations to Burna boy, wizkid and others that won the Grammy this year.
The Grammy award is the most prestigious music award in the world. It feels good to know that a Nigerian boy is playing big at the world stage and receiving the accolades and recognition that comes with it. Actually, I am not surprised that Burna boy won the Grammy because there is nothing any international singer is singing, that Burna cannot sing. I listen to the world music chart show on radio a lot and most of the songs that top the chart, are just as good and poor as any song done by anybody from anywhere in the world can be.
So, I hope with this award, Burna will Begin to feature prominently in international music festivals and concerts. Whenever foreign artists comes to Nigeria, they are usually treated like demi gods. Burna should now also begin to gets his demi god treatment in America, U.K, and other parts of the world.
I am not a music critic or expert, but I write this because when Burna won, black won, white won, talent won, creativity won, one world won and I won. And the victory won me a medal of Joy.
Congratulations, Burna Boy.
