What is the name of the traditional game you selected? In your own words explain how to play.

For playing this game I invite two kids of my neighbour. I often play with them. Iys really a pleasure to play with them. This is not for the first time but whrn I got time I play with them. Ayway here, one is 7 years years and another one is 10 years old. So there are so many traditional games in our country but among all the traditional game of this SLC, I selected Hidden or Hide and Seek. In our country it is known as "Lukochuri or polanti". It’s a very pleasant game and easy to understand. When I was a kid I used to play this game with my friends. I had lots of friends so it was more enjoyable then now.

How To Play This Game (Hide and Seek)
  • It's a group game. There is a group of hiders and a seeker. We select the seeker by random selection.
  • Then the Seeker close his eyes and count upto 30 or 40. Basically it take 2-3 minutes to give the Opportunity to yhe hiders to hide themselves.
  • After counting, seek ask " are you ready or should I start looking you all?"
  • If he gets possitive sign or any sound from anyone of the hiders that indicates they are ready, then seeking begains.
  • The one whom seeker saw first is the next seeker but there is a conditions if he found rest of all hider and he is untouched by hider before he see them.
  • If any hider touch him and he didn’t notice then he will be the seeker again.

As I said earlier, this is quite easy game. So today I with the kids play the game and fortunately I was hider all the time. Look, where my kids hide herself(haha). This is the most common place to hide in our house.

What are your rules? Did you make any rule changes at your convenience?

My rules is super simple. It's a game and I am not a kid anymore so I just make sure kids enjoy the game. The only thing I told the kids for playing this game is, no cheating. Like uncover oneself to be the seeker. As you can see today the little one trying to cheating. She didn’t cover herself properly just to be the seeker. I told her to not do this again. No, I didn’t make any rule changes at my convenience. I try my best to teach next generation what I learnt. This is how we can able to transfer traditional culture, game or anything one generation to another generation.

Of the features of the traditional games we have discussed, which ones do you think are present in the traditional game you chose?

Okay, It is great that he game I selected to play have also all the features of traditional game you have discussed in this class. Let me explain :

  • "They can be changed and adapted depending on the place and culture." - This traditional game also could be adapted depending on place and culture. When I was kid, I have played this game at my village. You know, in village there are huge place and area to hide and sufficient people to play but we still play this game in only 1200 square feet house. So, this game is addaped depending on the place and culture.
  • "They have simple rules, which are easy to understand and share." - my selected game is so simple to play, even 3 years old kid can play this game too and I bet you they will enjoy toi.
  • "They don't need complicated materials; Only simple things like a ball or a handkerchief are required."- Yes, this game doesn’t need complicated materals, just hide yourself in any place. Under the table, backside of the door, under the bed and so on.
  • "They can be played anytime, anywhere." - Yeap, we can play this game anytime, anywhere.
  • "They involve movement and often include words."- it only involve movement.
  • "They help develop skills such as memory, body awareness, space orientation, and fine and gross motor skills."- it helps develop children's social skills, stimulus cognitive growth, develop teamwork skills and many more.
  • "They encourage cooperation and friendship between players."- Yes, this game does it too.

Did the kids have fun? Share your experience playing with them in this traditional game. Feel free to tell us the best moments you experienced during the activity

Yes, they enjoyed a lot and tired tooo. After playing Hide and Seek we rested and play rock paper scissor game. I also enjoyed the game with them. The best moment was when I hide in a tiny place between two furnitures but I couldn’t and the seeker saw me then. It was fun. There was another funny moment when one fail to cover her. Actuall she was ding intentionally to be a seeker. Little kid with innocent cheating idea.

When I was little, I used to enjoy playing this game a lot. Even now, when I go home, I still play this game with the little kids at my house. After seeing your beautiful post, I was reminiscing about this game. Such a simple and enjoyable game is loved by many, and when we share it with others, it becomes even more fun. You have beautifully detailed the game. Wishing you all the best, my dear bestie💕♥️
