This is a new #featheredfriday because I just read the blog about the new featheredfriday community. And I can’t have our ducks not in that community. Read all about it here in this blog:

Some must knows about ducks especially for you:

Some ducks can fly up to 450 kilometers per day. Ours don’t do more than swim in the neighbourhood. The duckling sound of a duck has no echo, but they do have a build in alarm. Every day at seven the make found and want breakfast. The duck is related to the goose and the swan. We have two swans here to but I think they are to dangerous with the kids. Ducks can reach between 2 and 12 years old depending on the duck species. That yo the great relief of little D . I didn’t tell him that during the day they cross the street 😬

Ducks' feet have no nerves or veins. This means that a duck never has cold feet, even when swimming in ice cold water. Duck feathers are waterproof, the duck produces an oil close to the tail which the duck spreads over its feathers. This insulation also makes it easier for the duck to keep warm.

Wikikids :
Ducks have always lived in the wild until the Chinese domesticated them a few hundred years ago. But how does a duck ensure that his legs stay cold? For this, it has and many other water birds have a specially built-in heat exchanger. The cold blood of duck legs flows back through the veins towards the heart. On the other hand, warm, oxygen-rich blood flows from the heart towards the paws. Along the way, these two streams meet in the legs, the pipes run parallel and are closely intertwined. The cold blood, flowing up through veins, cools the blood flowing to the legs. On the other hand, the warm blood from the heart ensures that the blood flowing to the heart from the legs is heated. A heat exchanger pur sang, literally, that ensures that the body temperature of a duck is 40C and that of its legs just above freezing.

Incidentally, it is no problem for ducks to swim in icy water. They have a gland that releases a greasy substance. Ducks spread it with their beaks all over their bodies. That fat, that oil, ensures that the ducks are watertight and therefore have no cold. In short, not too much pity for those "cold-cold" ducks on the ice, they can handle the cold well. That does not mean that they cannot get into trouble. To burn the oven inside, food is of course needed. And that ms where little D comes in hahaha

The photos are mine, the ducks are ours and the knowledge is from experience and wikikids

Ducks... are they as good watchdogs ass geese? Making a lot of noise and attack flapping their wings 😳

Posted using Partiko iOS

Yes they are but they are not as fierce , And they hate dogs but ours know after 7 months that the dogs don’t hurt them and won’t take the cereal hahah but they can make noise! They are our alarm clock at 7 am every day

Those little beauties are so ducking cute! Oops, sorry - didn't mean to use such "fowl" language... 😂

Seriously though, wicked cute pictures and great information, @brittandjosie - and thanks to your conversation with @melinda010100, I think I figured out how to get my crow to keep your ducks and her Blue Jay company in the new community! Much appreciate it, and hope my bird jokes had you quacking up! 😉 😂 🦆 ❤️

You aren’t the wordsmith for nothing 😉 but we are in great company in the hive

Such great knowledge sharing. Thanks for that, @brittandjosie! I had no idea ducks had no feeling in their feet. This was a really fun read.

!Tip

And they can grow to
Be 12 years old , than little D will be in college and I will be stuck with them
Hahahahjaajj

Those are fantastic photos, by the way! !Tip

Great and again sweet You are an early adapter

I was quite honored to be invited in to create a community and give feedback on what I think about Steemit's new site. It quite wonderful to see so many positive changes being made!

Yep, its sure is, but we need more new accounts, and that will happen when steem Goes up, even if thats just a little

And we need easy and uncomplicated front ends so that when new users do come the site is intuitive and they are not scared away.

Well we see a lot of things when people enter Steemit and its not only the front ends

With the changes Steemit is making it will be much better. It was certainly time for them to do updates!

Zion would love some ducks! This was a really fun read!

Well
I was forced when the mum died in front of the house she was hit by a car leaving 11 ducklings and Duncan was so upset and wanted to foster well 7 months later they are the alarm clock at 7 every day hahahahaha now they are sooo cute

7 Am sounds so nice! My son is my alarm clock at 6am! This morning I waited a little bit to go in his room to get him and I got a lovely surprise. He had grabbed some poo out of his diaper. Thankfully it was only on his hand haha! Usually he only has a wet diaper. Toddler life :)

I wonder what else you keep as pets? You have ducks, cats and dogs.Should I be surprised if someday you end up posting a picture of your pet snake? hahahahaha

Posted using Partiko Android

We don’t have cats just me hihih and I am afraid of snakes

Thank god for that! I hate snakes too, and crocs, sharks- okay. Basically anything that could possibly eat/harm me. hahahaha

But you got them there don’t you w do t have those here well yes in the zoo

Yeah probably in your place. Here, they're everywhere!hahahahahaha In fact, there's a wildlife protection act. If you ask me, there should be human protection act too!hhahahaha

Your ducks deserved their own featheredfriday indeed ! 😉
