I will take you on a journey into my past and we will visit many places in Greece together. I lived in Greece for 16 years until the end of 2020 and was able to take many beautiful pictures there.
I will always attempt to post the exact Google Map link to where the picture taken.This way, you can also see on the map page exactly where we were when the picture taken.
It looks like I will be lucky enough to live in Greece again in May. Then I will also publish current pictures.
I hope you enjoy the journey through Greece, where I will gladly take you along a bit every day.
On the road again with the rubber dinghy :)
As already written, we constantly went on excursions with the dinghy in the first few years. We always had the boat with us when we went on shorter or longer trips with our off-road vehicles or the US van. In the 16 years we have circumnavigated the Peloponnese about ten times and certainly visited over 100 places. Many excavation sites or special places like waterfalls, caves or even beaches that normal tourists would not find. Since time was not an issue for us, it was possible to spend a few weeks searching an area for something special.
At that time, I still had an external GPS sensor and always looked at the area with Google Word. That way you could also see special spots, even if it was often very difficult to reach them. It happened more than once that we had to turn back, even with the off-road vehicle because we couldn't get any further.
We were also able to visit so many villages where tourists hardly ever went. Original “real” Greece and everywhere the people were very hospitable, and typically, we were invited. We also enjoyed the taverns, which are far away from the tourist strongholds. There are only a few dishes and to choose one, you are taken directly to the kitchen to choose what you want to eat. By the way, this is always quite entertaining if you don't speak the language and there is no one around who knows English or even German. Because often you don't really know what to order :)
