The Scientific Method. 🔍

Did you know that people have believed 'Spontaneous Generation' which means 'living things can be born from non living things spontaneously' for centuries? For instance people in earliest eras have believed that rats are born from old pieces of cloths and flies are born from rotten meat.

Brithish philosopher Francis Bacon was the person who proved that spontaneous generation is false and the method with 5 steps he used to prove that known as the Scientific Method. So the credits for promoting the scientific method goes to him. Follow are the 5 steps of the method.

Now let's see the way how this scientific method was used by Francis Bacon.

1.Observation.

Flies are emerged from rotten meats.

2.Identifying the problem.

How are flies emerged from rotten meats?

3.Forming hypothesis.

Flies are born from the eggs they lay on rotten meat.

4.Testing the hypothesis by an experiment.

1.Taking 3 pieces of rotten meat putting them into 3 jars..
2.Keeping a one piece of meat fully covered, another one covered with a gauze on top and the other one fully uncovered for few days.

The result of the experiment - There is no any difference in the fully coverd meat but flies and maggots can be seen on the gauze and fully uncovered meat.

5.Drawing a conclusion.

Flies emerge from rotten meat is not becaue as it is something spontaneous but because from the eggs they lay on those meat.

Like this, the fact that rats are born among pieces of cloths not spontaneously but as they breed on those cloths has also been proved through a simple experiment just like the above one.

So, this is the method used by scientists to solve some scientific problems. But we also can use and may be we already are using this method to solve our day to day problems by forming and testing hypothesis.
