I don’t think it’s fair really to have a trainers that can help you run faster. Where is the fun on that? Running is about enjoying but yet competitive.

Running is a kind of sport to be enjoyed but not to be expensive. What is the point of having an expensive trainers if you don’t have the endurance and stamina. You have to have the physical and mental strength, you don’t need expensive trainers. Btw, I still do love my Asics Nimbus 20 they are awesome!!

I think a lot of middle-aged runners quite like buying gear and will consider these. You may see them on parkrun. I won't be getting any soon. I just buy shoes as mine wear out.

Did you know there's a Steem Runners club on Strava?

I used to complain all the time about how expensive shoes are. When you see a post like this and you read about all of the time and technology that has went into the manufacture of them, it starts to make more sense why they cost so much. I personally can't see the day I spend more than $50 on a pair of shoes, but they do look pretty cool.

It seems most shoes are in the same sort of price range, so it's probably based on what people will pay, but these are a premium price. Cheaper shoes may do fine for some people, but if you do high mileage you want shoes that protect you from injury as well as being comfortable.

I only buy shoes if they are on sale. It may be that they were originally priced at $60 or $70 but if they aren't under $50 then I will not buy them. I do a lot of shopping for shoes at discount stores. I can appreciate the reasoning behind buying a good pair of shoes though.

I tend to buy mine when I need them and don't always get a great deal. I ought to look out for when there's a sale on. I like to support the independent shops and as I only buy about once per year it's not a big deal.

We have a local shop called "Runners". If I ever get to the point that I need that kind of shoe I might have to check them out. I like supporting local businesses when I can as well.

Thankfully I can't afford a pair right now, otherwise I'd be tempted.

Maybe if Bitcoin hits $50K I'll treat myself.

May as well pay for one environmental disaster with another!

They are a luxury item, but I can see plenty of casual runners getting some. Running is a sport where you can afford to use the same gear as the top stars. I'll pass for now.

I think it's neat. Maybe they should define acceptable shoes better before it is too late.
Good point about bikes. Running is already the cheapest sport to practice.
There something about speed skates with blades that hinged a few years back. This seems similar. Maybe they could have a shoeless version of events.

The ruling body is setting limits that some of these shoes will meet. I expect the companies negotiated with them. It will be interesting to see how it goes at the top level, but plenty of amateurs will want to try them out.

That makes sense.
A selling point for me would be a shoe that lowers the impact. I guess similar technology may help. I can write down whatever running times I want, lol.

The last time i got involved with some shoes Nike made that is meant to improve the running experience I hated it.

While they don't cost that much now at the time they were over $100 and the separations on the bottom are supposed to improve sole flexibility. The problem, which i should have seen coming, is that anything on the road gets trapped inside these breaks and also the shoe friggin fell apart.

I'll stick with my tried and true New Balance cross trainers!

I was just looking on one of the sites at Nike shoes with those slits. Some of my shoes are really good at picking up crap. I want them to last a while. Not tried any New Balance yet.

I think the shoes i'm referring to would only be good if someone was always running on a track. Even on street runs i come back with some loose stones and now I don't really even wear them because there is no track where I live that I'm aware of.

New Balance are good for me because they are apparently built to last and I have a bit of a wide foot" and NB makes shoes specifically for mutants like me.

I am full on Altra anymore. It is a major pain in the ass that my running shoes all cost the same as my climbing shoes and wear out WAY faster. The carbon fiber plates are likely going to be in many shoes in the next couple of years but they may also get banned from racing. There is a heated discussion going on about the shoe tech and racing currently and I am sure there will be some stringent rules coming to sanctioned races.

Now if I could just get my ass out running again I would be good...

All my running shoes have been pretty expensive, but I get a year or so out of them. Not an expensive hobby really. Of course I'd like to try these fancy ones, but not likely to spend that much right now.

Should I let @bingbabe read this? She's already got a wardrobe of running shoes.. and that's not enough!

I would be interested in her opinion. She's pretty quick anyway, but would she take this option to go faster?
