Circles. Loops. Spirals. Cycles.
Fascinating concepts and patterns...
I have been scratching my head ever since I came across this unique prompt - not because I can't think of what to write but what not to write. I mean wherever we look there are circular patterns or cycles.
Day and night - days of week - months - seasons...
The shape of Earth, its revolutions and spins...and that of other celestial bodies.
Whatever you can think of is circulating, orbiting, or revolving around something. There's always a focus point.
Which makes me wonder if the universe is circular instead of infinite. What about the years? Will they start over at some point? Will there be another 2024? Was there another 2024?
Is the time concentric and not linear?
It's kind of creepy to even think of the possibilities.
I watched A Trip to Infinity on Netflix, in which the mathematicians discussed - a circle has no corners or infinite corners? They demonstrated by increasing corners of a polygon which looked rounder with each new corner.
So, maybe 2024 is just a corner of a circle that has infinite corners, if one lives for eternity, one might witness the year 2024 again.
By now you must be wondering if I'm insane. I blame @soulfuldreamer for making me think circular. π΅βπ« This emoji is a true depiction of "thinking-circular-makes-you-look-insane."
I can recall another example from the show which is based on a theorem Poincare Recurrence. I had to agree with Sheldon Cooper on how cool Theoretical Physics is by watching an example (theoretical) of the aforementioned phenomenon.
I will put it in my own words here...
Place an apple in a box. Nothing can come in or out of the box. After some time, the apple will start decaying. It will then turn into dust. Years later, the remaining chemicals will start getting hot. A lot more years later, there will be nuclear fusion. Then there will be photons and ion nuclei. Then they will decay into protons. There will be fundamental particles. Years and years later, all the particles in the apple have gone through every possible state. Then what? Those states will be revisited and Apple will reappear in its original state.
Unsettling, isn't it?
It's a well-reasoned theory but unfortunately, no one can live that long to confirm it.
This makes me think of us - humans.
I believe in Resurrection and this theory gives reasoning to my faith.
Everything is circular and recurring...
I can think of countless more circular phenomena - cyclones, eddy currents, whirlpools, vortex rings...
There are intriguing circular impressions
like fingerprints and water ripples...
Then there are certain circular behaviours like addiction, rumination, co-dependency, and obsessive-compulsive disorders...
I'm still missing a hundred more examples. But I can't name all and I should stop trying.
Ok, last one...
Having an educational background in Computer Science and Programming, this prompt also reminds me of Recursive functions and the fact that the only loops I knew for a good part of my life were: for, while, do-while. π
(If you know, you know)
Recursive function solves a problem by solving smaller instances of the same problem, repeatedly calling itself until the base case is solved.
Better related to spirals...?
Whereas, for, while, do-while loops are not functions but sets of instructions that repeat some instructions until specific conditions are met.
Urgh...
I'm stuck in this circular prompt...
Infinite recursion?
No problem.
Forcefully terminate.
Hello my beloved sister.
A few weeks ago I found an open book in the library in my city. I myself was very interested from afar when I saw the book, so I had to buy it because I liked it. The book was entitled "Life is Once, Meaningful, Then You Die. I really like it." I really thought about what was in the book. What's strange is, it's not about challenges, stories about life problems π€£ But the contents of the book are like stories about chemistry or mathematics, I really have difficulty reading, so I'm like crazy looking for information about the contents of the book. . It's possible that the owner who published it chose the wrong book cover π€£.
Likewise, I used to, think this world is flat, to the point that I spoke a little angry with my friends, because my friends said the world is circularπ.

Is this book translated in English? It's contents, as you have described, have made me curious and I want to read. π
And oh my! I have a Flat Earther under my post. π I know I'm opening a can of worms but why did you think Earth's flat?

Yes, my beloved sister, the book is like I said. but now I have given the book to my friend, because I am very confused by its contentsπ€£. Sometimes, when I go to my best friend's house, I take it and then give it to my sister @event-horizon so that my sister has this strange bookππ
I thought the earth was flat when I was little or 7 years oldπ .

Great. And the essence: our whole life is determined by circles and cycles. Do we always realise it? No. Can we break out of it? No. Can we use them for ourselves? Yes. We just have to become aware of them and accept their systematics.

What a fertile mind you have.
Though i couldn't penetrate anything you have written and i blame my background in Biology.

Fantaaaaaastic!
I'm going in circles, trying to figure out how to reply to this piece of art! Wow, just wow...
I'm feeling a little proud of myself too π«£ for drawing out this much creativity from the participants of this contest.
You have so beautifully captured the essence of "circular/ circularity/ cycles/ spirals"... Name anything

Hahah... feeling dizzy?
You always come up with unique and fabulous ideas. I thought about writing fiction but since there's so much substantiality in circularity, I couldn't ignore it.
I shall now read how others have played with this prompt. (:
