They say watching movies is an attempt to escape reality, and I agree – though with a bit of reservation. Filmmaking is an art; and art – at least for me and what I choose to believe – transcends reality. That’s the beauty of it: art not only reflect the concrete realities of life, but also explores its complex hypothetical side. And most of the time, it is this hypothetical realm that keeps us captivated as curiosity often tickles our imaginations.
Although some may find it contemptible, I’ll admit: I watch movies to escape reality – but into a much deeper or even greater reality. The reality of our inner life. To further illustrate, one of my favorite movies is the Korean film ‘Parasite’ which powerfully depicts the truth we often shy away from. And how this film was able to illustrate the truth about social inequality, class struggle, and complexity of human relationships is no doubt, a masterpiece of art. This is the deeper or greater ‘inner’ reality I want to escape to when watching movies.
What about cartoons or animated films? Oh, yes – I love them too. Remember in Big Hero 6, when Tadashi, the protagonist’s brother, works tirelessly on his project? Tadashi, an intellectually-gifted and hard-working guy, fails around eighty times before finally experiencing his eureka moment. And what does that teach us? Patience and perseverance. That no matter how many times life punches you in the gut, you keep going until you finish what you started. Oh, the Blue Eye Samurai? Teaches us that revenge does no good – it breaks friendships and ultimately leads to losing oneself in the process.
And finally, how could I forget The Wild Robot? It touches on something many of us struggle with—the feeling of not fitting in. It teaches us that tunneling our vision with respect to our goal and not letting others’ opinions deter us, we can achieve what we set out to do.
However, there are those who watch movies to actually escape reality – an escapist – and this is where things can start to go awry. Unfortunately, this is exactly what big movie industries capitalize on. Although there’s nothing wrong about enjoying a good film purely for entertainment every once in a while – as long as we keep our sense of moderation in check, we’ll be fine.
To seek high quality films, to watch with the intention to spectate a different kind of reality that adds depth to our perceptions – that’s my kind of escapism. So, yes – I escape reality with a good movie.

I have no problem with multiple accounts as long as the author manages to blog authentically and seriously with each one. So not everyone who has two or more accounts has to be a spammer ;-)) I suspect that the Henry who suddenly appeared is already active under a different name ;-))
Speaking of which: I've been meaning to ask you about that for a while, dear @aminasafdar... There are two of you, aren't there?

I appreciate you for bringing this up. It's quite alarming because it's a question of authenticity and a hard blow in the gut since I'm the one being questioned. Am I offended to labeled a spammer? Probably, but that's not really important. What holds more weight in this is that which concerns my writing style, not my feelings. I find this enlightening, to be honest, because that proves a change may be necessary with regards to my writing style, although I cannot guarantee I'll fully understand what needs to change - for how am I supposed to know? As far I know, being a writer, (i still can't call myself one 'cause I'm just a guy who loves to pen his thoughts out in the open) means writing freely that which reflects what's in your heart: your values, principles, philosophy in life and not anyone else's. Does this mean I must change my views or perhaps take lessons in how not to imitate grammar from others? I am not sure what style you're referring to here, is it the grammatical structure or is it how I approach a certain subject or perhaps my perspective? It's quite true that we tend to imitate someone's work because we aspire to be like them, but I've only just learned about @aminasafdar, and I did notice we share a similar appreciation for the simple things and she's much more articulate than I am - the kind of writer I admire. So, to answer your question, I only have one account which is this one and aminasafdar can attest to that.
I'll stop here before this turns into an essay 😅(for I do have this vice where I turn every thought into an essay)– perhaps more in another post.

Oh, I don't think I made myself quite clear there - I apologise!
I think you are authentic and I like your style. But it reminds me of another author here, both in terms of writing style and world of thought. Again: it wouldn't be bad from my point of view. It was just a question ;-)) By the way, I wasn't referring to Amina: I also assume that she has a second account. And I don't see any problem with that...
