T'was the Night Before Halloween - Eve of Despair

Our crosses were up hanging, planted everywhere

Some were on mirrors - for the vamp double whammy

Our hearts shook with fear our skin cold and clammy

The owls searched the night as they above ground low

While bats fluttered and screeched orange moon back lit glow

We left the graves open and the coffins for the night

Left in their holes at the setting of the sun as grew our fright

Witches round cauldrons stirred evil spelled brews with great spoons

Sparked, cackled with laughter conjuring their master, sacrifices swoon's

Garlic on windows hung from the doors, salt on the sills, threshold floors

The black Babylon candles burned ever so bright but dark was their infernal light

Foul spirits awakened to the chants and song poltergeists rose and did wight

Goblins, ghouls, demons, devilish jinn, more answered invocations

Appeared, grew by the score growled squealed wielded incantations

As the powers of ill magics cast thunder upon sky cracked from high dark bolts

Who's strike reached wide to split trees and fire turn barns to a pyre

While Baalzamon, Lord of darkness talon clawed notes spewed from his lyre

Fairie called forth hosts at the order of their King and Lord against evil to contain

The Queen and her Dames spread in the circle surround called forth Holy Rain

As the night turned to gray as Dawn made her rounds to end the worship of pain

To drown out fires water down sacrifice stew, the witches wet said to each other

Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose
Next year we'll do it overpower our bother

Well at least the rain washed clean our clothes and our stockings, and shoes

When one is a witch and wants the yearly bath this is what we must do

So Ended the Night Before Halloween - Eve of Despair

Good night and Happy Halloween to you!

... our first Halloween here at our new location in the flat countryside. In the past, when my children were still small, Halloween was sometimes celebrated excessively in the villages. So we're prepared for anything ;-))
