The Lost Eleventh Commandment

Today I was sitting on the bed reflecting and in my mind came those flashbacks of those days when I was a little girl and I saw my dad get up from the same bed where I was now, place his fedora hat on the side, put on his leather pants , put on his alligator skin boots, an alligator that he himself had managed to hunt on the banks of the Amazon River, a 7-meter giant that gave him a fierce battle, take his whip in the purest style of Indiana Jones. It always amused me because my father reminded me of this hero and for me he was my greatest hero, my role model.

After getting up, my father would immediately come to my room. I was 7 years old and he asked me: 'Laura, where do you want to go today?' I, with my eyes almost popping out of emotion, marked the place where I wanted to explore on the map. In those years we were in the ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru, carrying out an exploration, an investigation that had led us to those places.

The task had been assigned to us by the World Pyramid Center, a very serious institution that hired veteran explorers to discover and give clues to the greatest mysteries in all of history. This time, we were on the trail of the missing number. It was said that in the tablets of the 10 commandments that Moses received on the mount of the burning bush, there was a missing piece of the tablet, and that piece was a number, the supposed commandment number 11. It was an important discovery that needed to be found.

I distinctly remember how Dad said, 'Okay, Laura, grab your backpack and compass, don't forget your quartz pendulum, and let's head over there. I already have the jeeps ready. We have told mom to wait for us at the entrance of the pyramid and we're leaving.' With great joy and passion, I got into the jeep, in the front seat, despite the arguments with my father, who always said that the front seat was not for girls and that I should ride in the back for safety. We always argued about the same thing, but in the end he listened to her because she was a very obedient girl.

We reached the pyramid and went inside, where mom was waiting for us a few meters further in with the flaming chandeliers. When we reached the end of the corridor, we were able to decipher the message that said in ancient Egyptian we should place the apple fruit, where it indicated that there was a hidden compartment. Dad managed to find out, but then fatality occurred. As he put his hand out to open the passage, his hand was injured by sharp metal spikes that came out of his hole, injecting him with a deadly poison that left him lifeless.

Since then, I was left with the immense pain that the search for this missing piece to discover the mystery through that pyramid had caused the disappearance of my father. Years later, as an adult, I managed to crack the mystery, and now I have in my hands the fragment of the missing number of the tables of Moses. However, I will not share it with the world, I will keep it for myself.
