Keyword: NEW BEGINNING…

When I see the word “new beginning” first thing that comes to my mind is “the pursuit of happiness played by will smith and his son.

Don’t blame me, I’m a movie freak!!

That movie made me understand this particular Bible scripture better:

that weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning psalm 30:5.

No matter the challenges you are going through, as long as you don’t give up and you keep persevering, always know that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. A light of hope, a light of a new beginning.

The movie talk about a man called Chris (will smith) a struggling young man who was abandoned by his wife and left alone with his kid to cater for. It got to a point that they became homeless but Chris never allowed that to weigh him down. His determination to succeed and provide a better life for his kid, far outweighed the circumstances he was going through.

Despite the hurdles he passed through on the day of his job interview, by appearing very rugged, unkept and untidy, his tenacity for the “pursuit of happiness” still didn’t make him give up. He was able to convince his interviewers to listen to him and he manage to secure an unpaid internship at a prestigious company. They employed 20 of them for that internship but they had only one slot as a paid stockbroker. His determination and ability to bounce back after every challenge that life threw at him, made him standout above those 20.

As a newbie in stockbroker, he kept reading in poor light conditions, improving in his listening and communication skills, outstretched himself. What took others 9 hrs to do, it took him just 6hrs and made good profits for the company. He became a trail blazer amongst his colleagues and he was finally employed as a paid stock broker. That was the mark of a “new beginning” in the life of Chris and his son.

Any of us here, could be Chris in the movie. Life is so unpredictable. But your willingness to push forward is what makes you stand out. The film is simply letting us know that whatever problem you are going through is temporary and is subject to change. So, that new beginning we all crave for is in our hands, if only we are determined to pay the sacrifice and work out our salvation. We should learn to see obstacle not as a death sentence but as a stepping stone to a “new beginning”
