Deutsch im Anschluß...

There was a border... We could call it the "Iron Curtain". Visible, tangible and in the consciousness of people on both sides. On the one side were states that adhered to one ideology, on the other to the other, the despicable ones. Well, depending on who you asked ;-))

The countries, or rather the blocs, which were strictly separated, had been in a tense relationship with each other for many years. The border was heavily guarded and personal exchanges between the inhabitants of both sides were limited. Some residents, however, farmers, foresters, ordinary people, seemed to be completely invisible when they crossed the green border. No border post, no surveillance camera could detect them.

These people used their opportunities to do good. They became a kind of ambassador of peace between the two nations and the two systems. They brought messages, small gifts and sometimes even works of art from one country to the other. Through their actions, they tried to bridge the gap between people and create mutual understanding.

One day, an open conflict between the two countries close to the border was on the horizon. Tensions reached a climax and war seemed inevitable. The little people, the border crossers, felt obliged to take action. They embarked on a dangerous journey to meet high-ranking representatives of both sides and try to open a dialogue.

Their invisible presence allowed them to enter the capitals of both countries unnoticed. There they sat down with diplomats, leaders and ordinary citizens to discuss the most pressing problems. They eloquently appealed to their shared history, their cultural ties and the possibility of peaceful coexistence.

And these efforts bore fruit. Slowly but surely, both people and politicians on both sides of the border began to recognise the need for dialogue. The border crossers became symbolic figures of peace and reconciliation. Both countries and both blocs began to settle their differences and the danger of war disappeared.

The invisible work of the border crossers, which was never recognised or even acknowledged anywhere, led to serious changes: The border between the countries was no longer perceived as a dividing line, but as a bridge that made common ground and connections possible.

Green border / Grüne Grenze

Deutsche Version:

Nun, je nachdem, wen man fragte ;-))

I'm surprised to learn that stories like this exist globally. I can relate to yours as if it was written for our geographic scenario. Marvelous.

Yes, in my case that was the situation before the fall of the German Wall. Warsaw Pact and Nato and us right in between... I'm convinced that things are similar in, say, North and South Korea or on other disputed borders. War is not a thing of us people. War always comes from "above"...

This is an amazing story or history and I’m glad that things got resolved before we hear a war break out or something
That is one of the best ways to settle war

Indeed , there are lots of unsung heroes like this invisible border crossers that has kept humanity save in one way or the other but we have know idea who they are!!

Well, to all of them, we say thank you..

That is, they achieve their goal, pass and arrive sowing cordiality and good actions that transform people in a better way, borders are no longer frontiers, they are imaginary lines that must be crossed, I like what I read, invisible ambassadors of good deeds

Exactly - that was pretty much to the point of what I meant: big politics does not always (rarely?) have it in its hands to avoid war. That's what people like you and me should do: then there's a war and nobody will go to it...
