Voting is when we support users content by showing our approval as liking or disliking . It's process like when we press the "like" button on youtube to show our support for someone's post. In Steem platform we also do the same , we can also vote by upvoting or downvoting. Upvoting means we appreciate any particular content, while downvoting means we don't like it.

Voting is very important because it helps us show our support & encouragement to others. It's like giving a rewarding thumbs-up to someone's work. In Steem community voting can also have rewards. So, when we upvote someone's posts , it not only shows our appreciation but can also benefit the person by increasing their visibility & potential rewards. Similarly, downvoting can be a way to express our disapproval or disagreement with the content and decrease in rewards also happens .

In Steemit blockchain, there's a slight difference between upvoting and curation term but no that what . You see , many people like me simply upvote posts without even reading or making sure if the content is good or free from any kind of plagiarism. This is just a quick vote without any confirmation of post quantity . But curation is a more responsible way . It involves checking & confirming if a post is of high quality and original before giving it a vote.

Curation is the most important because it ensures that we support only the best and high quality content. Instead of blindly upvoting, we take the time to evaluate the post, ensuring it meets certain standards of quality and authenticity of any publications By curating, we help to promote deserving content , which can benefit the authors and the community as a whole. It is like being a gatekeeper, making sure that only quality and original content gets the recognition it deserves.

So, curation is about being more mindful and responsible process with our votes. It's not just about quantity but also about the quality of the post we support. By curating, we contribute to maintaining the integrity of the platform & encouraging creators to produce valuable and original work.

In the Steemit ecosystem, there is a concept called the "curation window." This refers to specific time periods that affect the curation rewards of publications on the platform. The first five minutes after a post is published is known as the "Reverse Auction" period. During this time, curation rewards gradually decrease in a linear fashion until they reach zero and post payout done.

On the other hand, the last 12 hours of a post's lifespan experience a reduction in the voting power also allocated to it. This reduction begins when the post is 6 days & 12 hours old & continues until the post expires after 7 days.

From the above information its clear , we can conclude the statement that the curation rewards differ during these two periods compared to the general voting time, which spans from 5 minutes to 6 days and 12 hours. The rewards deducted during these periods are returned to the rewards pool of the Steemit blockchain.

Curator payout = (1/2) √PT (√P1-√P0) Δt

• In this formula,

✓ PT = Payout on Expiry of Post (after 7 days)

✓ P1 = Payout of Post after vote

✓ P0 = Payout of Post before vote

It is important to note that...

In Steem, we have a special formula to measure publications rewards called "Curator payout." It is difficult for me at first attempt when professor @kouba01 about it , but i am trying to break it down. Basically, if you vote on a post during the first 5 minutes, you'll get a smaller reward compared to the general voting period after 5 minutes . But here's the interesting part: some experienced and clever curators know how to make the most out of this early period & earn different rewards based on their voting power and other factors.

These advanced curators are clever as i discuss above , They know that by curating posts within the first 5 minutes of post , they can earn rewards in a unique way. It all depends on their voting worth & other factors. So, there's a bit of strategy involved in getting the most out of this special duration of time. It's like a little secret in the Steemit ecosystem!

How can a curator earn more than 100% upvote value as curation rewards? Take any post you voted in Steem Blockchain and indicate the time and position of your vote, what is the projected curation reward?

Yes of course , it is indeed possible for curators to earn more than 100% reward on upvote . The amount of reward a curator receives depends upon the voting window , i already talk about , which is the time period during which a post receives upvotes. This window is determined by factors such as the time of voting, the value of the vote, the total payout, & the duration of the voting period. These factors play a role in determining our curation rewards.

If the upvote we give has a higher value, our curation reward will also be higher when the post reaches its payout finally . Additionally, the rewards already paid out for the post also impact the curation rewards n post . It is worth noting that the coming curators have a higher chance of earning more rewards compared to those who vote later.

Practical example

I would like to provide you with a practical example with screen shot that illustrates the concept of curation rewards. In this scenario, I came across a post by an author that I found particularly valuable, so I decided to curate it by allocating 100& percent of my voting power to it. As a result of my curation, I earned a curation reward of 34.54%. You can see the details of this reward in the screenshot below:

Worth of Vote = 0.04$
Position of Vote = 1st
Voting Time = 2m 54sec
Curation Reward Obtained = 0.064 SP
0.053 SP is equal to : 0.25 * 0.053= 0.01325$

Now, 0.01325/0.04 = 166.67%

I have received a curation reward of over 100% (33.54% to be exact) for my contribution to this publication . If the payout had been higher, my reward would have been directly greater. Thus, it is possible to earn more than the full value of my vote through curating post .

It is also important to approach self-voting responsibly & consider its implications on the platform's integrity and fairness. Balancing self-promotion with supporting others is very essential for maintaining a healthy and collaborative community.
