Hello everyone my name is Oshoke and in this post, I will be taking you through an article of the metaverse in Steemit Crypto Academy Season 3 week 1

Define your understanding of the Metaverse. What has the Metaverse aimed to achieve? Is Metaverse here fully with us yet?

The Metaverse is commonly referred to as the virtual world, the metaverse features a virtual world where everything is digitalized with the internet as its base medium. The metaverse is also referred to as the evolution of the internet, with intentions to breach the space between the digital world and the physical world via the internet, the metaverse is a 3D world where individuals can create customizable avatars which they can use to represent their individuality in the meta world
One can carry a lot of different activities one can carry out in the physical world one can do in the virtual world, From going on dates to attending exclusive parties to even going to work all this can be done in the virtual world.
Although the metaverse has been a concept for a while it only recently started to gain popularity when Facebook owner Mark changed his companies name to meta in 2021 to indicate the next step in social media that would involve virtual reality.

What has the Metaverse aimed to achieve? Is Metaverse here fully with us yet?

The metaverse was created with the aim of representing the physical world in virtual reality where we can meet people as we do in the conventional world and interact with them, it’s was created as a future for the internet and a step up for social media, instead of just or always chatting someone up you could do the same but this time together in the virtual world, meetings can be attended friends from all across the world one can interact with there avatars.
The metaverse aims to ensure a new environment for its users where they can connect via Virtual Reality Glasses and Headsets and experience life as they would normally but this time with the freedom to access different aspects of there life’s and try our new looks and carry out activities which they can’t physically, in essence, metaverse was created to help its users explore the world, meet new people or escape reality whichever they are after

Is Metaverse here fully with us yet?

In this case I would say no, the metaverse is still growing and more feats and usability is being integrated into the virtual world every day, the AR and VR technology which is the main piece in the imetaverse is yet to be fully developed as more features are constantly being added to make the experience much more realistic

State the technologies that can be utilized to achieve Security, Ownership, and others in the Metaverse. In your own words, how are the technologies going to be utilized to achieve security and ownership? (Include any components of the technologies that would be of great advantage to the development of Metaverse).

BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY (NFTs)

Since the metaverse is created to simulate the virtual world some sort of items are going to be owned and they has to be a way to prove that this item belongs to such user or else anyone can just take anything and use it as they want, with the blockchain technology integrated into the metaverse world proof of ownership would be very easy, every user would have a digitized signature which he can use to access items that are exclusively for him and just like NFTs he and he alone can do as he wants with such item
The blockchain technology has been known to be very secure and hack-proof ever since its release and its integration in the metaverse would seamlessly ensure an, even more, safer and control-free environment for its users, transactions carried out in the metaverse would be recorded and stored in the blockchain and users would be assigned individuals keys which they can use to access their user identity in the virtual world making the metaverse a much more safer and secure world for users

VR/AR

The virtual reality technology when used in the virtual world would make the user experience, even more, seem less and enjoyable, users get to experience things from a 3-dimensional experience and see things as they would in the real world, some new feats are being added that one can even feel things like vibration, etc in the virtual world

5G

The Metaverse also being the internet would require a significant amount of internet speed to be able to maximize or smooth user's experience, the 5G technology would be op in this aspect as it would allow anyone to tap in from anywhere with its very high bandwidth

• DECENTRALAND

The Decentraland is an ethereum based Virtual web-based project which projects the real world and its activities into virtual reality, the platform was created by Ari Meilich and Esteban Ordano in 2017 but was not released to the general public until 2020 in Decentralised Autonomous organization which gave control to its users and managed by the Decentraland organization.
The decentraland is a 3D virtual world where users can own a certain piece of land (Parcel) bought or earned on the decentraland, each parcel is an ERC-721 token which is based on the Ethereum blockchain and is stored on the blockchain, and each user owning a parcel can build their parcel to different types of building like a hangout hub or a game shop where other users can visit and or get charged a certain fee to visit
The decentraland being a virtual world one can meet and interact with other users and do as much as a user can do in the real world, one can go on adventures in the game or own items in-game of value which can be sold for tokens or exchange for other items of interest

• ROBLOX

The Roblox is an online FTP( Free-to-play) game created by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel and was first released in the year 2006 on a cross-platform scale ranging from Ios to windows, the game usually explores the Roblox world by engaging in missions to unlock feats and meeting new people and engaging in a lot of other different games.

Some of the advantages of the Metaverse include

ADVANTAGES

• RELAXING

After a long day of work, one can easily unwind with the virtual world, maybe one is currently building his house in the virtual world or has a date with someone in the virtual world, he can use it as a form of relaxation, attend parties and relief stress from a full day's work

• SOURCE OF INCOME

It is no news that some have made the virtual world their workplace place, during the covid times we saw how some companies created a virtual space where their workers sign in to and carry out their daily activities, some explore the metaverse on adventures and discover items that can be sold in the metaverse market while some others play the game full time buying and selling properties and getting paid for it.

• EXPLORE

In the metaverse one is allowed to choose and customize their avatars and be whoever they wanna be in the virtual world, people often go to the virtual world to associate with others a bit more freely than they do in the real world and get to explore the world as they normally wouldn't in the real world

DISADVANTAGES OF METAVERSE

• RISK OF IDENTITY THEFT

When one gets his log-ins stolen, the hacker might use the user's account to do unscrupulous activities and sell of his items and assume the stolen identity as his own

• SOCIAL LIFE OF THE USER MIGHT DECLINE

When one is addicted to the virtual world yes he might be very social there and be well known but his real-world social life will be declining as he spends more time online he interacts less with people around him

• DELUSIONAL

Some people have tagged the Metaverse as delusional as they tend to make people believe they are who they aren't, people go there to ignore their real-world problems or to escape reality

Do you believe in the future of the Metaverse? Discuss.

Yes, I do believe in the future of the metaverse, matter of fact I believe it is the future of all social media, Instead of simply chatting with the user you can actually meet them in a virtual world and interact with them in a much more social environment. With this in mind, i believe the future of metaverse would reform all social media and the game sector.
In the gaming sector, everyone would prefer a more realistic view of things and experience games in a more real-life format, hence most games will move towards the meta world direction and start making games that would require a virtual world, where players to enter the metaverse and meet others and go on missions together, so yes I believe in the near future the metaverse would be the subject of a lot of limelights

CONCLUSION

Metaverse is the future of the Internet as a whole and with time(in the near future) more and more adaptation to the virtual world would be experienced, the metaverse is a next-gen technology that still has a lot of development it is currently undergoing and by the time its fully developed i am certain it would be mind-blowing.
