Centralized application are application that is controlled from the central authority while decentralized application are application that are not controlled from the central authority. Instead it is open to anybody that intend to use the system. In this homework, I will talk about the differences in centralized application Vs Decentralized application their advantage and disadvantage using social media category as an example.

Advantages
User Friendly
It is easy to use and operate on by users.
Regulated
Since Facebook is a centralized social media platform it controlled from the central authority and also regulated by the government to ensure that no users go beyond it terms and sevices.
Frequently Update
Update can easily be done to met up with ende users need, since it's a centralized system that is controlled from the central authority.
Opportunity for Advertisers
Centralized application only create and opportunity for Advertisers and themselves.
Disadvantage
You can't ensure if the central authority will keep your data safe
Your data can be sell out to third party, or if your data will not be use for their benefits like giving it out to advertising firms. This is what happened in the past in USA when the ex president Donald Trump's lay a charge against Facebook for selling users information.
You do not have control over your data
The system has full control of your data of which you can easily be ban from using the system at any point in time without warning.
It can be back easily
Your account can easily be compromised which make your data become at risk.
Steemit is a blockchain base social media platform that is decentralized. It is also a open source that allow anyone to build and enhance upon it.
Advantage of Steemit
High Scalability
It can handle billions of transactions without delay in server.
Real Time Speed
Steemit is much faster than Facebook in terms of perform uploading images making transaction etc.
It is transparent
Everyone can view and see the transactions that has been carried out by another user.
Nothing like third party
You are in full control of your data and not third party.
It is highly securable
Steemit Account can't be easily hack for it to be hacked that means the hacker would need to be in control of every single node which is very difficult. Unlike Facebook that use just a password.
Opportunity are wide
Steemit create an opportunity for blogger, content creators, merchants, enterpreneurs, community leaders, internet readers, shopper etc.
Disadvantage
Not user Friendly
Steemit is hard to understand unlike Facebook that is user Friendly.
Cyberbullying
Since it's not regulated it can easily be used to steal money and safe it in steemit Wallet.
Conclusive remarks n which I think will rule the future
For the fact that everyone need something that is highly secure, fast, transparent and something their can control without been subjected to rules and regulations. Then for this reason I think the decentralized application will rule the future.
