Namaste 🙏 to all of you. My name is Lavanya. I am a housewife from India.

This is my entry post for the on-going contest Understanding The Steem Blockchain by the #SteemitCryptoAcademy community.

As a steemian, I am so happy to participate in this contest. I will learn a lot about steel blockchain technology from this.

Thank you, professor, for conducting this amazing contest.

Define the following words: STEEM, SBD, SP, and TRX

If you're new to the world of cryptocurrency and the Steemit platform, you may be wondering what all the abbreviations mean. In this article,I will explain about STEEM, SBD, SP, and TRX and how they work.

By the end of this article, you should have a better understanding of each of these tokens and what they're used for.

What is STEEM?

STEEM is a social media platform that allows users to earn rewards for their contributions. STEEM is the Native Currency of the platform and can be used to purchase goods and services or to trade for other currencies.

iMarkup_20221029_122539.jpg

source

At the moment, there are approximately 391925512 STEEM coins in circulation. But it has an unlimited supply. It is also trading around $0.23 at a rank of 266 as per Coingeko when I published my post.

Earning rewards for content creation is a key part of the Steem platform and is what makes it unique from other social media platforms. Content creators can earn STEEM and SBD based on the number of upvotes they receive from other users.

The more upvotes of content receive, the more rewards the author will earn.

What is SBD?

SBD is a digital currency that is pegged to the US Dollar. It is designed to be a stable currency that can be used to buy and sell STEEM and STEEM Dollars.

iMarkup_20221029_144955.jpg
source

At present, in the market, we have around 11715387 SBD coins in the market. But it has an unlimited supply. It is also trading around $2.36 at a rank of 583 as per COINGEKO when I published my post.

When users convert their STEEM to SBD, they are effectively cashing out their earnings from the platform.

SBD is an important part of the Steem ecosystem because it helps to keep the value of STEEM stable.

When the price of STEEM falls, more users convert their STEEM to SBD. This increases the demand for SBD and helps to prop up the price.

Similarly, when the price of STEEM rises, more users convert their SBD to STEEM, effectively selling their SBD for a profit. This helps to keep the price of STEEM from getting too high.

The SBD/STEEM peg is maintained by this process.

What is SP?

Steem Power(SP), is a form of currency that is used on the Steemit platform. It can be used to upvote or downvote content, and it is also a key factor in determining how much influence a user has on the platform.

SP is similar to other forms of currency in that it can be bought, sold, or traded on exchanges.SP is different from other currencies in a few key ways.

First, SP is not a physical currency but rather a currency that exists only on the Steemit platform.

Second, SP is not subject to inflation, meaning that its value does not change over time like other currencies.

Third, SP can be used to influence the content that appears on the Steemit platform, making it a powerful tool for users who want to shape the platform to their liking.

What is TRX?

TRX is a native token of the TRON Protocol and is used to interact with the TRON network.

The TRON protocol is a blockchain-based platform that enables developers to create and deploy decentralised applications (dapps). The TRON network includes a native currency called TRX, It is tradable on cryptocurrency exchanges.

source

At present, in the market, we have around 92,269,329,497 TRX coins in the market. But it has an unlimited supply too, like steem and sbd. It is also trading around $0.06 at a rank of 15, as per Coingeko when I published my post.

TRON was founded by Justin Sun in 2017. The TRON Foundation is a non-profit organisation that is responsible for the development and promotion of the TRON protocol. The Foundation has a team of professionals with a background in technology, business, and marketing.

The TRON protocol is designed to be scalable and to support a large number of users. It is also designed to be compatible with existing cryptocurrencies and blockchain platforms.

The TRON protocol has been designed to be extensible so that it can support new features and applications as they are developed.

The TRON network work based on a Proof-Of-Stake consensus algorithm, which means that users can earn rewards for participating in the network.

The TRON protocol also supports smart contracts, which allow developers to create applications that can run on the TRON network.

The TRON protocol is open-source, and anyone can contribute to the development of the platform.

At present each user in steemain getting the additional reward of $trx concerning our payout $SP with respect to 0.5 :1 ratio(trx: sp).

Explain The Benefits Of Building our ones SP on Steem Blockchain

SP stands for Steem Power, and it is essentially a measure of your influence on the Steem blockchain. The more SP you have, the more influence you have.

There are two main benefits to building your SP on the Steem blockchain.

The first is that it allows you to earn more rewards. The more SP you have, the more rewards you earn from posting and curating content.

iMarkup_20221029_145240.jpg
source

Here you may see my curation rewards, which I earn from my curating other posts here. Like that, we may earn additional rewards from using our SP.

The second benefit is that it gives you more influence on the Steem blockchain. The more SP you have, the more influence you have on the direction of the STEEM blockchain.

Building your SP is a great way to increase your earnings and influence on the Steem blockchain.

Define Curation in the Steem Blockchain and explain whether self-voting is a good or bad Steem Blockchain practice.

Most people on the Steem blockchain are familiar with the term curation but don't know what it means.

Curation is the process of selecting quality posts and promoting them on steem blockchain. The purpose of curation is to add value to the content and reach more users.

Self-voting is a practice on the Steem blockchain where users vote for their own posts. This is generally seen as bad practice, from self curating we don't get any. I am telling those posts as Low-Quality Posts that's why they promoting theirs.

However, there are some exceptions to this rule. For example, if you are curating your own content, it may be helpful to self-vote in order to signal to the algorithm that your content is high-quality. But from this, our rewards are very small compared to curating others' posts. It's better to show our support for others rather than self-vote.

From this, we get more curation rewards, which also help to promote quality posts. But, most importantly, we have good relationships with other steemians.

Another common practice on the Steem blockchain is resteeming others' content. This means, here users share another user's post with their followers.

This is generally seen as a good way to help promote good content and increase its reach. Upvoting is a great way to show your support for a post and increase its chances of being seen by others.

Explain your understanding of the voting window." On the STEEM Blockchain. Vote for two posts( one is older than 7-days and one is less than 7-days ) and explain to us what happened between two posts. Do all the two voted posts produce monetary value and do they consume your voting manna?or not? Before that go out this task, please go to Steemworld and screenshot your present voting manna.

The voting window on the Steem blockchain is the Time Period in which a user can vote on a post.

The voting window for a post begins when the post is published and ends seven days after the post is published.

After the voting window for a post ends, the post can no longer be voted on.

It means every post is active after publishing from 5 minutes to 6 days 12 hours and then after that post expires. If you give support to those expired posts, we don't get any changes.

The more votes a post receives, the more valuable it becomes. A post with a lot of votes is more likely to be seen and read by other users.

There are two types of votes on the Steem blockchain: Upvotes and Downvotes.

Upvotes are given to posts that a user likes or thinks are valuable.

Downvotes are given to posts that a user dislikes or thinks are not valuable.

When a user upvotes a post, they are effectively giving the post a +1. When a user downvotes a post, they are effectively giving the post a -1.

The value of a vote is not the same for every user.

The value of a vote depends on the following:

  • The user's reputation

  • The user's STEEM Power

  • The user's voting power

The value of a vote also changes over time based on market conditions.

First Example: Giving Support For Active Posts

Here you may see my current voting mana before I give my support to others. I have a 91.70%

iMarkup_20221029_145355.jpg
source

Now I'm giving my 100% support to this post. This post was published 2 hours ago.

iMarkup_20221029_145447.jpg
source

Now I'm giving my 100% support to this post.

iMarkup_20221029_145520.jpg
source

Here you may observe that due to my support, this post's value increased based on voting power.

iMarkup_20221029_145600.jpg
source

We can now see how much Voting Mana has been transferred to this post via steemworld.org.

iMarkup_20221029_145731.jpg
source

At present, I have 89.94%, which means around 2% of my voting mana is decreasing for every 100% upvote.

Second Example: Giving Support To Expired Post

For this reason, I need to choose more than 8 days old posts.

iMarkup_20221029_145924.jpg
source

Before my support, I had 89.94% voting mana in my account.

iMarkup_20221029_145955.jpg
source

Now I'm giving my 100% support.

iMarkup_20221029_150332.jpg
source

My mana does not decrease after support, which means that if we support a post after it expires, it will be use less.

iMarkup_20221029_150032.jpg

When it comes to the Steem platform, understanding how the voting mana works is critical. After all, it's this system that allows users to have a say in which content is promoted and which isn't.

Here's a quick rundown of how it works. When you upvote a post on Steem, you're essentially giving it your approval. The more approval a post has, the more likely it is to be seen by others.

But approval isn't the only thing that matters. The Steem algorithm also looks at how much voting mana you have. Mana is sort of like a currency on the Steem platform.

You get it by being active on the platform and by having other people upvote your content. The more mana you have, the more influence your upvote will have.

That's why it's important to have a lot of mana if you want your voice to be heard on Steem.

Of course, mana isn't the only factor that determines how influential your upvote will be. The Steem algorithm also looks at things like the reputation of the person who is doing the upvoting.

STEEM Blockchain Benefits and Drawbacks

The STEEM blockchain has a lot of advantages, but there are also some disadvantages.

Advantages of Steem Blockchain

  • One of the biggest advantages of the STEEM blockchain is that it is very fast. This means here Transactions are confirmed within a few seconds and no fees for performing transactions here. This makes it ideal for businesses that need to move money quickly.

  • Another advantage is that the STEEM blockchain is very secure. It is virtually impossible for someone to hack into the system and steal money. This is because the blockchain is constantly being verified by thousands of computers around the world.

  • It rewards users for their content and not their investment. This means that users are more likely to produce quality content since they will be rewarded for it.

Disadvantages of Steem Blockchain

  • One of the disadvantages of the STEEM blockchain is that it is not very scalable. This means that it can only handle a limited number of transactions per second. This is not a big problem right now, but it could become an issue in the future as the system grows.

  • It has an unlimited supply. That's why attracting big investors is not an easy task. Because of this, they expect more volatile coin prices.

  • Lack of social promotions and attraction from users.

  • Another disadvantage of the STEEM blockchain is that it is a relatively new platform and therefore has a smaller user base than some of the more established social media platforms.

  • Another disadvantage is that it is not as decentralised as some other blockchains. This means that there is a risk that the STEEM Blockchain could be controlled by a single entity, which could lead to censorship or other problems.

  • STEEM Blockchain is not as secure as some other blockchains, which means that there is a risk that the data stored on the blockchain could be compromised.

  • Another disadvantage of the STEEM Blockchain is that it is not very efficient. This is because the STEEM Blockchain uses a Proof of Work algorithm, which is very resource intensive. This means that it can take a long time for transactions to be processed, and it can be expensive to run a full node.

Overall, the STEEM blockchain has a lot of advantages along with Disadvantages too.

Final Thoughts

Steem is a blockchain-based decentralized social media platform where anyone can earn rewards.

The Steem blockchain is built upon Graphene, which is an open-source blockchain technology. The Steem blockchain is the first blockchain to offer a social media platform where users can earn rewards for their contributions.

The STEEM blockchain has both advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, it is a secure and efficient way to store data and transactions. On the other hand, it is not as widely adopted as some other blockchains, and its Proof of Stake consensus algorithm can be challenging for some users.

You understand and explained steem blockchain very well, Highly appreciate your efforts dear, good luck for this contest.

Thank you my friend.

The purpose of curation is to add value to the content and reach more users.

You are perfectly right . Curation also involves discouraging spread of spam or plagiarised content and may even involve downvoting the content.

It means every post is active after publishing from 5 minutes to 6 days 12 hours and then after that post expires

Yes that's perfect explanation of a voting window. We know that before 5 minutes reverse auction takes place and after 6 days and 12 hours linear discounting takes place.

Good luck .

Yes my friend. Thank you.

You have written well about Steem blockchain very well which I enjoyed reading through. Best of luck to you.

Thank you very much my friend.

nice mate

Thank you

Hi, I think you have a good understanding of Steemit, I see you mention that you are a housewife and that is one of the things I love about Steemit, it allows us people who normally would have no idea what a blockchain is, to dabble and learn about this topic in a friendly and simple way.

It is true that it still does not have such a huge adoption rate as other blockchains, but this gives it a great potential to exploit, just like using STEEM for the development of P2P games. I hope in the future this will happen, then we can see a much more valuable STEEM than now.

Have a blessed day.

Yes dear. Hopr for best. Thank you very much
.

Upvoted! Thank you for supporting witness @jswit.

Nice one, well explained and so long I think it will almost take 7-10 hours to write and research the article. So, much hard work, keep it up🔥.

Yes took lot of time.

Thanks for stopping my post.

Sister, do you applied for curator post?

Not this month,I having some functions in my home on November. Thats why I dont apply.
Not possible to handle both.

So,Next month I try .

Greetings I love your participation, a very complete information, you explain very well each term, and the best well understandable. And certainly the good thing about steemit is that users are rewarded for the quality of their publications and not for the investments made, which is very attractive to all bloggers. Blessings.

Thank you very much for this valuable feed back.

Great explanation about STEEM, SBD, SP, and TRX.Thanks for the sharing with us...

Thank you my friend.

You are most welcome dear

Hey my good friend,

The Steem blockchain is built upon Graphene, which is an open-source blockchain technology. The Steem blockchain is the first blockchain to offer a social media platform where users can earn rewards for their contributions.

The STEEM blockchain has both advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, it is a secure and efficient way to store data and transactions. On the other hand, it is not as widely adopted as some other blockchains, and its Proof of Stake consensus algorithm can be challenging for some users.

To be sincere I was aware that steem was built on Graphene, infact I never knew of the platform Graphene . You see you have just had impacted something new into my brain. One thing I learned as I grew up, I understood that every goo thing created on earth has it disadvantages and advantages, so as steemit have but I am glad steem advantages are more than it's disadvantages.

Thank you very much for sharing, please you can check my own entry here

wishing you success

Thanks for valuable feedback. I am glade you learn new from my post.

Take care of you.

Greetings..

The purpose of curation is to add value to the content and reach more users.

This is rightly so. Thus, it is very wrong for any individual to self-curate his work. As curating is checking the quality and originality of the content.

Your explanation is a perfect one on the voting window. Thank you for sharing this quality of work with us, it shows you certainly invested a lot of effort into it.

Good luck.

Nice article keep it up, please visit my post with upvote thanks
