Question 1: Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?

Answer:

Till today, the real identity of this personality remains anonymous although there have been lots of publications about this name, all still fail to tell the identity.
According to facts gathered, Satoshi Nakamoto is an acclaimed name of inventor of the first cryptocurrency called Bitcoin, an alternate of fiat currency i.e it is digitalized in operation.
The name really came to limelight when bitcoin was launched in the year 2009, a year after it white paper was published (2008).
Since the advent of this technology, users have witness free flow of transactions, total control and many more with less charges in finance management. But it is unfortunate that many countries have still refuse to legalize it.
In the world of cryptocurrency, this anonymous inventor or group of inventors (if it was done by group of peoples) will never be forget.
The unit of measurement of bitcoin is SAT. A word derived from accliamed inventor's name.
In conclusion, Satoshi Nakamoto remains anonymous till date.

Question 2: Write on two claims/theories of Satoshi Nakamoto identity?

Answer:

Doria Satoshi Nakamoto: This is the most popular identity in the world of cryptocurrency. Although there is no 100% prove of ownership but his first speech quoted that he said: he is no longer involved and that the project have been turn to others was a footprint of identifying that he is the one but Dorian later stepped out to say that he was misunderstood and that he was talking about another personal project.
Satoshi Nakamoto is a Japanese-American whose name is even the unit for measuring bitcoin. Which is; 1SAT = 1 x 10-8
Thus giving out more proves about it.
He launched the first version of the software on January 2009. However, this claim is still unproven because he denied it and stated that his speech was misunderstood.

Nick Szabo:

This is an Hungarian decent American computer scientist that graduated in 1989 from Washington university and also obtained a degree from George Washington university law school. Szabo attempted the invention of a decentralized cryptocurrency called Bit gold . A project that many assumed to be the pioneer of bitcoin.
Szabo’s name really came to limelight cause of people’s curiosity about the identity behind invention of bitcoin. Before the advent of bitcoin, Szabo was quoted to have make a statement of creating another currency.
Till date, Nick Szabo still deny been involved in the creation. On July 2014, he went further to send a mail to Late Dominic Frisby, a British author, voice actor and comedian that showed evidence which can be used to assumed that Nick Szabo is the inventor of bitcoin. In the mail, he stated that Late Dominic Frisby was wrong.

Question 3: Who is Wei Dai?

Answer:

A 45 year old graduate of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from University of Washington, Wei Di still remains a prominent personality in the creation of cryptocurrency.
Unlike Satoshi Nakamoto, this Chinese identity is well known. He is a cypherpunk and his name can be seen in the Bitcoin (BTC ) whitepaper
Wei Dai is known for creating crypto++ that is currently managed by crypto++ Community and for attempting to create the first decentralized currency which would have been called B-money in 1998 but the project was completed. Wei Dai’s name is used as a unit for measuring Ether (ETH).
Which is; 1 Wei = 1 x 10-18
There are several mails that shows conversations that Wei Dai has with Satoshi Nakamoto. This mails have reduce the assumptions that he is the anonymous Satoshi Nakamoto but some people suspect that Wei Dai tricked a double identity. B-money and Bitcoin, sounds similar, right? This triggers assumptions of Wei Dai changing the name of his abandoned project after suspecting that his life may be at risk. Till date, Wei Dai still maintains a low profile online.

Question 4: What is the current value of Bitcoin on the day you are performing this task? Calculate the USD value of one satoshi of the current value. (Show full working and to 3 s.f).

Answer:

Today been 7th August, 2021 and at 6:03am, the price of one bitcoin on Coinmarketcap is $43,393.84

Screenshot_2021-08-07-18-00-41-01.jpeg

Before calculating the value, it is proper to know the value of bitcoin starting from the highest value. The table below shows it;

UnitSymbolValue
Mega bitcoinMBTC1,000,000
Kilo bitcoinkBTC1,000
hecto bitcoinhBTC100
deca bitcoindaBTC10
BitcoinBTC1
deci bitcoindBTC0.1
centi bitcoincBTC0.01
milli bitcoinmBTC0.001
micro bitcoinμBTC1 x 10-6
SatoshiSAT1 x 10-8
milli satoshimSAT1 x 10-11

Calculation: 1 SAT = 1/100000000 x 1BTC
1BTC = $43, 393.54
Therefore; 1SAT = 1/100000000 x 43, 393.54
1SAT = 0.00000001 x 43, 393.54
1SAT = $0.00043394
Answer: 1SAT = $0.000434 (s.f)

Question 5: what is the current value of Ether on the day you are performing this task? Calculate the USD value of one Gwei of the current value. (Show full working and to 3 s.f).

Answer: Today been 7th August, 2021 and at about 6 : 32am, the price of one Etherium on coinmarketcap is $2,971.03

Screenshot_2021-08-07-18-01-53-01.jpeg

Before calculation, it is proper to know the value of every unit of Etherium (ETH).

Unitssymbolvalue
EtherETH1
Peta weiPwei0.001
Tera weiTwei0.000001
Giga weiGwei1 x 10-9
Mega weiMwei1 x 10-15
kilo weiKwei1 x 10-18

Calculation:

Formula: 1Gwei = 1/1000000000 x 1 Ether
whereby; 1Ether = $2971.03
Therefore; 1Gwei = 1/1000000000 x 2971.03
1Gwei = 0.0000000001 x 2971.03
1Gwei = $0.00000297103
Answer: 1Gwei = $0.00000297 (s.f)

Question 6: Transfer 0.001 Steem to an account. Then send 0.0001 steem. Show what happens and state why? (Screenshots with username tag).

Answer: 6a

Step 1: I clicked on the profile picture displayed on top right. The drop down displayed, I proceeded to click on wallet
IMG-20210807-WA0016.jpg

Step 2: My wallet is not login that’s why the drop down arrow on steem is not showing. So I proceed to login.
IMG-20210807-WA0017.jpg

Step 3: Done with that, the drop down showed. The I proceeded to click on steem, then transfer
IMG-20210807-WA0018.jpg

Step 4: The transfer page appeared. I input the receiver’s name, 0.001 steem and memo, then clicked next.
IMG-20210807-WA0019.jpg

Step 5: A confirmation page showed up, I clicked okay
IMG-20210807-WA0021.jpg

Step 6: This sign in complete transfer page displayed. So I filled my private active key and clicked on sign in
IMG-20210807-WA0022.jpg

The transfer was successful and it was recorded History

IMG-20210807-WA0024.jpg

Answer 6b: Then send 0.0001 steem

I clicked on steem and transfer on drop down again to perform the 0.0001 steem transfer as well.
IMG-20210807-WA0018.jpg

Filling the amount (0.0001 steem), an automatic response of use only 3 digits of precision popped up in red color below the steem balance
IMG-20210807-WA0025.jpg

This rendered the next step unacceptable. It can be seen that steem have only 3 decimal digits and that transfer of more than 3 decimal digits is unacceptable I.e impossible

Conclusion:

The anonymity of bitcoin invention/inventors (if they are many) does not hinder it success. Till date, cryptocurrency have solve many financial challenges that fiat currency initiated. Some of this major challenges includes; Transparency and unlimited transfer of amounts. All thanks to the anonymous inventor/inventors of bitcoin which is the pioneer.
However, many users still hope on a day that cryptocurrency will be legalized by governments as it has been banned in many countries e.g Nigeria.
Special thanks to Prof. @awesononso for this amazing lecture.
