Homework Summary [Beginner's Course] - Crypto Academy / S4W8 - DeFi Products

We just Concluded the final week of season 4 in the Steemit Crypto Academy with DeFi products. The week ran from 00:00 UTC on October 24th to 11:59 pm ITC on October 30th, 2021. My sincere thanks to everyone who has been with us throughout the season. I trust that we are making progress in our knowledge of the cryptocurrency industry from the lessons.

What triggered the topic on DeFi products is the rapid growth of the cryptocurrency ecosystem with over $9.1 billion traded daily. DeFi which stands for decentralized finance has proven to bring opportunities to crypto users to easily access financial services like lending, borrowing, swapping, yield farming, liquidity pools, etc. We know the difficulties of having access to these services in traditional finance, but DeFi has made it available to everyone to access.

There are a lot of benefits offered in the DeFi ecosystem. The main benefit here for crypto users is to earn passive income on the asset they are holding. Instead of keeping your assets in your wallet, users can engage in DeFi services to earn accrued interest on their assets. This is also beneficial to the entire crypto market as it also helps to generate liquidity.

We discussed some benefits of DeFi products and also discussed DeFi products built on Binance Smart Chain and Tron Network. We also tried to explore some platforms built on this network and how to carry out transactions on them.

The homework task aimed the following to educate the users on DeFi products:

• Understand DeFi products and it's Benefits.
• Explore DeFi Products built on Binance Smart Chain and Tron network.

At the end of the week, we had 106 entries. The task distribution is as follows:

• 100 Valid Entries
• 0 Invalid entry
• 0 Plagiarised / Spun Contents.

• Below average refer to grades below 5.
• Average refers to grades within 5 and 5.9
• Good refers to grades within 6 and 8.9
• Excellent refer to grades within 9 and 10.
• Invalid is for posts from users who are not eligible to perform the task. Also, late entries are for participants who submitted before the scheduled time which is 11:59 pm UTC, on Saturday, 30th October 2021.

The overall performance of the homework task can be shown in the chart above. Only 19% of the participants score above grade 9 while 68% scored between grade 6 to 8.9. Similarly, 11% scored an average score of 5 while 2% scores scored below average. We neither had an invalid entry nor plagiarised/spun content. I'm glad at the effort put in by the participants to produce quality and original content.

The grade dispersion can be shown in the scattered plot below with an average score of 7.32. This value is poor compared to the previous weeks. This happened as a result of the inability of the students to understand the question before performing the homework task.

Top 3 Homework Task

Though the performance for this week isn’t encouraging, some students were exceptional in their research to produce quality content. Also, these students were also selected based on their participation in the #club5050 program. The program is initiated to support and add to the growth of the academy.

Recommendation and Feedback from Homework Task

• The performance for this week is quite low compared to the previous weeks. This can be seen as the inability of some participants to understand the question performing the homework task. Also, a lot of users haven’t cooperated with #club5050 rules which is part of the marking scheme.
• There have been improvements in the presentation and writing of the participants. Though some participants are still making effort to improve their writing skills.
• The compliance of the students wasn’t encouraging. Students were expected to explore other DeFi projects in the crypto industry and not the one explained in the lesson. Only a few numbers of the participants were able to make good research on other DeFi projects,
• There was no case of plagiarism/spun content in this week's submissions. We encourage every to keep submitting quality and original content. The community will keep fighting plagiarism as this is a great offense in Steemit Crypto Academy.
