Introduction

We are already in the third week of the steemit engagement challenge. In this third week, the steemit blog has once again announced 7 contests from the 7 communities for users to participate. We should all do well to remember that apart from writing quality content the challenge aims to encourage users to visit others' posts and have meaningful engagement with them.

For this week my first post will be in the steemit crypto academy where the contest there is about blockchain in our lives

Blockchain is changing everyday life for everyone, what is your opinion on the matter?

Blockchain technology was introduced long before the introduction of cryptocurrency. But just like the internet people were afraid to change from their old ways. They preferred to sit and use the old systems which they believe were more secure and good for them.

It took one man or woman to introduce bitcoin and for a while, people didn't like the idea either but as we can see people are beginning to love the idea of decentralisation where the government has no say in one's financial life.

The bitcoin emergence changed the game for blockchain technology.

One feature of blockchain technology that both it's the lover and none lovers have accepted is that it is secure, transparent and faster than the old traditional system that we have. This makes me have hope for blockchain technology. As we continue to see the improvement in the use cases of blockchain technology, many many individuals and countries are beginning to accept this technology and are beginning to come up with the reality that it might just be a way out for them.

Even though we attribute the use of blockchain technology to decentralisation, we are seeing more and more centralised institutions accepting some of its use cases and this brings positive news to the people who believe in the blockchain. Banks, hospitals, football clubs and big companies are beginning to explore and accept blockchain technology. Football clubs use this technology to get through to their fans who are sitting at home, because of this football fans who want to have a say in the governance of their clubs can sit at home and vote for these things to be implemented.

Banks are using blockchain technology to help them to track and secure their financial records. Big companies like Apple and Samsung are beginning to integrate their phones with blockchain use cases.

Two people who are conducting a business together will prefer that they make their deals without the interference of a third-party and the blockchain makes it possible.

All these scenarios make one overly excited when we think about the future of blockchain.

The sentiment around the blockchain among the vast majority of users has moved away from negativity to positivity and I don't see it slowing down or dying there.

What are the main advantages and disadvantages, in adopting the use of blockchain in everyday life?

Advantages of Blockchain Adoption

Ever since the adoption of block chain technology, the users have had praise for the technology and today I will be looking at a few of it's advantages.

Security is better on the blockchain than traditional systems.

---

One of the reasons I will always choose the blockchain is its security. The blockchains system of verifying nodes have made it extra difficult for people to by pass its security easily. To by pass the block chain security a user has to spend a huge amount of time trying to bypass numerous mechanisms that have been put in place by the miners. Because of this it has become very hard to hack the block chain as users are provided with a cryptographic key which is made up of alphanumeric keys which is unique to every users hence making it very difficult to guess.

Less transaction fees

Transaction fees when using a banking system as compared to the traditional system are very high. A user on the blockchain needs to pay very little for his transaction to be carried out for him. Unlike the traditional systems where the destination of the money being sent makes the about of fees paid, it is not like that on the blockchain. Users who are sending to the same country and a user sending to a different country both have the same fees.

No third parties

On the blockchain, a user doesn't need a third party or in other words, referred to as a middle man to carry out his or her transactions or businesses. The two parties can talk to each other directly and finalise their deals directly without the need for a third party.

Transparency

Since data entered into the blockchain cannot be changed it has helped to remove the ideas of stealing or manipulation of figures. Once data is entered it cannot be later on manipulated by anyone and that data which has been entered can be seen and accessed by all users of the blockchain.

Disadvantages of blockchain adoption

Data accessibility is not limited.

Although we all want a free and decentralised world, we must agree that sometimes the availability of certain information is harmful. With the adoption of blockchain, any information whether good or bad can be accessed with just a click and in the long run, it harms the users.

Jobs that required manpower will be taken over.

---

Certain jobs required human effort hence it created jobs for humans. When blockchain is adopted those places will be taken over by the blockchain rendering the people who were working In those positions useless.

For instance, in hospitals, we have nurses who fill the folders and access a patient's temperature before he goes to see a doctor. When the blockchain is adopted in the hospital, the nurse who does that work will be rendered useless cause tie blockchain will do that more efficiently and faster.

Limited understanding of how the blockchain works.

It has taken a long time for people to accept and use blockchain simply because they were accustomed to their old ways. The use of blockchain technology demands high knowledge of the technology hence it might become very difficult to use it at a point

Discuss the future of blockchain, and how this technology is impacting the world.

Blockchain technology has come a far way and by now people are accepting the fact that the technology has come to stay. Due to its advantages, many of us can as well boast that the technology makes life easier. Things that humans saw as merely impossible in the past are now seen as possible with blockchain technology.

The emergence of cryptocurrency has further cemented the spot that blockchain has. With the introduction of cryptocurrency on the blockchain, people have realised that they can indeed make money while using this technology hence we have seen the growth that the technology is enjoying.

Due to blockchain adoption, users of the old traditional banking system have realised that they no longer have to form long queues at the bank in anticipation of sending it receiving money. Users will prefer sitting in the confront of their homes and with a few touches here and there money is sent and money is also received. When sending money users no longer have to care about the number of transaction fees they are paying because it is almost close to zero.

When it comes to our voting systems we are seeing people requesting day in and day out the traditional system be scraped and the blockchain brought in. When this happens as the voting process is going on users can have access to the results as people are voting. Remember that once this information is inputted nobody can manipulate this information hence when a candidate is elected users will trust that they elected that candidate. This eliminates the chance of the current government in power to manipulate the votes.

The health sector should be no exception to this future growth. We gave heard of cases where a patient dies because he or she was not attended to by the doctor early enough or the patient was being treated for something else.

With the implementation of blockchain, treatment will be faster and more efficient. Just as I explained before, we have nurses that record the temperature of patients at the hospital before they go into the consulting room. When blockchain is adopted here, the hustle of a few nurses having to check dozens of patients temperature will be stopped as the system will automatically check all patients and record them. No nurse will have to go and fetch these folders from the folder room. All this work will be done in little or no time.

What is your opinion about the implementation of blockchains in the health sector? Has the implementation been positive or negative? Explain a use case.

Blockchain is known for transparency and security. When blockchain is implemented in the health sector we will see the growth of the health sector. The health care sector is the area for where must take precaution because we are dealing with human lives. The slightest mistake will cause the death of a patient who could have been saved.

There are instances where we have heard of patients dying due to the negligence of the nurses when administring drugs. In others cases when a patient comes in for treatment at the hospital the nurses downplay the seriousness of the sickness hence they delay in administering or commencing treatment. Since information of data entered into bloxkchain can't be edited, when a doctor or nurse enters a case into the file he is not at liberty to edit what he has entered so once a patient dies it can be seem that the patient died due to the negligence of the doctor.

Another scenario is with the administration of expired drugs. When blockchain is implemented, the technology will be allowed to track each drug and its expiring so whenever a drug expires the blockchain Is allowed to dispose of that drug immediately to prevent anyone from administering it to a patient.

A positive use case of blockchain

I have mentioned and talked about the use cases and how blockchain can be implemented in the health sector. Let's not forget that oral health is also important.

Dentition is one of the health aspects that we normally downplay but the sooner we start caring for our teeth the better.

Dentacoin as it is called is described as an ecosystem where dapps are built on it. This ecosystem is dedicated to oral health.

The dentacoin ecosystem aims to create tokens that in turn reward users, and it also creates its wallet. These tokens as stated above can also be used as a form of payment for a service. The main aim of dentacoin is to provide affordable oral health care to patients according to their budgets.

The ecosystem has an app that gives users notifications about their oral health.

They also have a platform where a user can get him or herself reviewed without having to go to the dentist.

This is a positive use case as people will save the hustle of going to see a dentist for small cases. The dentacoin ecosystem will you recommend a dentist when needed. This in turn saves people from the hustle of travelling all the way to see dentists or for regular check-ups.

The blockchain has impacted a lot of lives and will continue to impact a lot of lives positively. All though people are accepting it wholeheartedly, there are still others who think the traditional system is far better and will prefer using them.

We are getting to an era where everything and everyone will need to know a bit about technology to survive and I think we can see blockchain technology spearheading that cause.

The decentralisation, transparency and lower transaction fees of the blockchain will make anyone fall in love with it.
