It is good to have new teachers in this second season of the cryptoacademy, and that is why I am back in classes again.

This time I decided to carry out the task of professor @yousafharoonkhan, in which he talks about centralized and decentralized systems, their advantages and disadvantages, their comparison, and which is better for the industries.

Definition of decentralization and centralization.

Decentralization:

We have all heard about this word in the world of cryptocurrencies and in other cases as well, since this is not the only meaning it has, and it is that decentralized systems do not depend on large authorities or larger entities, this means that all decision-making does not depend on other people, only on themselves and they do not need to regulate and monitor their operation.

The world of technology has evolved in such a way that it no longer depends on central entities that regulate or verify its operations, decentralized systems transferred power and freedom to their users who are in charge of decision-making. These systems store your information on servers scattered throughout the network.

In the case of cryptocurrencies, keeping in mind blockchain technology has incorporated many benefits in the world of dApps, this allows a better operation and security of the same platform

Centralization:

Centralized systems are quite the opposite of the previous one, and it is that these do depend on large authorities that regulate and monitor their operation, always depending for decision-making on a central entity.
In the technological world there are many centralized applications, to give a clear example, some of them are "Facebook" "twitter" etc. Since they are the ones who set the rules and enforce norms. Power always falls on a large entity or an area specific

In centralization there are no decision-making, all these types of activities or operations are carried out by a large entity, that is, it does not depend on us. Whether in any area, they are the ones who regulate any type of operation.

Difference between both systems and why

As we can see, both systems are very different and each one has very important and different comparisons that make it distinguished.

And it is that if we realize the decentralized systems bring to the world a simpler and independent way either to carry out operations or to carry out more efficient and faster processes in any field. In addition, it has a very orderly administration and its own processes and also has high levels of specialization, with a greater commitment to its systems.

If we compare this system with the centralized one, we could say that this system helps to decongest the network more, distributing work and procedures, which in turn makes it more orderly. This does not mean that this system is not accountable, only that it has greater power to seek solutions.

Centralized systems charge commissions for their services provided and serve as intermediaries in transactions, while decentralized operations are user-to-user without any kind of mediation.

And if we compare the centralized system with the previous one, we can see that in centralization the tasks are not distributed since here the decisions are made by a strong and unique leadership, this means that the communication process for the management of power can be less rapid than decentralized. Another comparison to deal with is that the centralized system does not work in anonymity, since it asks its users for all the data regarding their identification to later be verified and process their operation.

With these comparisons I mean that each system has something different to offer, we just have to take into account which one is the best for our benefit.

Advantages and disadvantages of both systems.

Decentralized advantages:

• Security: these systems tend to be more trustworthy in users since they themselves are the owners of their data and assets, due to the encryption in the blockchain, this means that if they lose their account they are solely responsible of the same.

• Forgery: in some cases these entities work with blockchain technologies, which makes it impossible to falsify data and lose any data, since it is in charge of keeping everything very carefully. And it also means that all our information is very private and could not be traced or viewed by anyone.

• Transactions without third parties: In these decentralized systems there are usually no intermediaries at the time of carrying out operations, which makes it much faster and safer.

• Better efficiency: since all the information is distributed on servers, this means that there are no drops in your service, as is often the case in centralized systems.

• Independence: As they are decentralized systems, they do not depend on large entities to carry out processes or operations.

Decentralized Disadvantages:

• Organization: if a large decentralized system project is not well organized, it may have major problems in its operations and the required objectives may not be achieved.

• Security: just as it is an advantage, it also has a disadvantage and that is that if we lose our account, we cannot recover it without the help of intermediaries since we are solely responsible for it.

• Protection against errors: when carrying out any operation and if for any moment we make a mistake, we cannot do anything, since only we are solely responsible for what we do.

• Volatibility: it is usually a system with a little more risk when investing, since it almost always presents great volatility risks.

• Communication: if there is no good communication between the team that manages this system, it can cause major problems and failures in the system, due to decision-making due to lack of communication.

Advantages of centralized:

• Centralized communications: as it can be totally hierarchical, there will be a single communication when making big decisions.

• Errors: if you make a mistake in the operations, the central entity will take charge solving the problem.

• Responsibilities: being a focused entity, the responsibility falls on the same system, it will not depend on us if the platform falls or an error occurs

• Transactions: the same entity will help you when carrying out an operation or transaction, if you do not know how to handle the platform.

• Decision-making: a large central entity is the one that makes the decisions, this does not mean that it is a single person, but a very select group. This makes it faster to do or execute something on the centralized platform

Centralized Disadvantages:

• Dependency: we users have to depend on the system to carry out any type of operation

• Security: security has a great disadvantage, and that is that the centralized system can see our movements and see all our data, which deprives us of having privacy.

• System crash: in many cases, centralized projects tend to have system crashes, which often hurts users if they are doing or operating something on the platform

• Slow processes: in some centralized systems, carrying out any type of operations or transactions usually takes time to execute, since it depends on them. This presents a great disadvantage and waste of time.

• Availability: in some cases centralized systems do not usually work 24 hours a day, which presents a great disadvantage for users when they want to do something on the platform at any time of the day.

Which system is best for business and why.

As we have seen, each system has its advantages and disadvantages in the market, we must take into account very well when choosing a system to invest or for a trade and business. We have to consider the aspects that benefit us and are fruitful in the future.

If we analyze from the technical point of view, centralized systems allow us a simpler and easier handling, but it has the disadvantage that it generates delays and losses in many cases.

In my opinion, I consider that decentralized systems are more apt to complete a process in businesses and shops, offering them security, speed and independence. What in turn seeks to adapt to what the investor is looking for and motivate him.

How to tell if a blockchain is decentralized

As we have seen in the task of our teacher, he gives us a useful and helpful tool to know if a chain of blocks is decentralized. We just have to perform the following steps.

1 • We enter our browser, and we are going to search for the following word "etherscar" and we will enter its page, which is the following:
https://etherscan.io/

2 • We went to Coinmarketcap to look for a currency, in this case I chose "Dogecoin" and where it said "contract" I clicked there to copy the code.

3 • Then we go to the initial page of "Etherscar" we paste the contract code in the search engine, and we get the option "BscScan" to perform this procedure, since if we can see this currency works with "Binance Smarth Chain" and there is the option to know if this currency is decentralized.

4 • We give it a search, and the item "contract" will appear and we will automatically receive a series of codes where we will appreciate the details of the blockhain very well. And then we realize that by not seeing a destruction function in it , we will assume that this currency is decentralized.

I hope I fulfilled the assignment from professor @yousafharoonkhan this week, and for that I thank him for his effort and dedication. Until next time.
